Euchre players earn, prizes

play Friday evening at the Walton
Community Hall. Prize winners
were: High lady, Mrs. Jack
mcEwine, low lady, Ethel. Dennis,
Seaforth; high man,•Dave Watson;
low man, Keith Clark. Most
Lone hands Torrence Dundas.
Lunch hostesses were Mrs.
Dave Watson, Mrs Ralph Tra-
visa, Mrs. Mac Sholdice and Mrs.
VanVliet Sr. Another card party
will be held in two weeks.

The McKillop Unit of the
U.C.W. held the February
meeting on Wednesday afternoon
in the church basement with 11
members present..
Mrs. Murray Dennis was in
charge of the .worship service
opening the meeting by reading,
"God's Love is not Withdrawn".

well a s pianist. The offering
was received by Mrs. M. Hack,
well and dedicated by Mrs. M.
Dennis. Mrs. John Burch read
the scripture taken from Matthew
25, verses 31-46 and Matthew 28,
verses 16-2Q. Mrs. M. Dennis
gave the Meditation, reading,
"our Lord Commanded us to,
feed the hungry." Mrs. Wm.
Roe lead in prayer followed by
everyone repeating "The Lord's
Prayer". Mrs. M. Dennis read
a poem, "no time for God",
followed by 'a skit, "Tell me
Doctor" which was presented by
Mrs. 'Wm. Roe, Mrs. J. BurCh,
Mrs. D. Dennis, Mrs. M.Dennis,
and Mrs. C. McCutcheon.
Mrs. John Burch the unit
president was in charge of the
business. Minutes of the last
meeting were read and, adopted.
Roll call was answered by every-
one paying the price of their
shoe size: Mrs. M. Hackwell
gave the treasurer's report.
Lunch, was served by; Mrs.
Dave Watson, Mrs. Glen Mc
Nichol and Mrs.' W.J. Leeming.
8TH' AND 16TH UNIT
The February meeting of the
8th and 16th unit was held Wed-
nesday afternoon at' the home of
Mrs. Dong. Fraser.
Mrs. Ken McDonald opened
the meeting with "Come, Thou
Fount of Every Blessing," fol-
lowed by the meditation, "For-
giveness" and prayer.
Mrs. Harold Bolger discussed
"Love, the first and great Com-
mandment". A poem, " The Per-
feet Church was read by Mrs.
K. McDonald. "Jesus Thou
Joy of Loving Hearts", was sung.
Mrs. George McCall con-
ducted business. Minutei were,
read by secretary, Mrs. Don Mc
Donald, followed by the roll call
answered by 10 members. Lunch
was served by Mrs. James Mc
Donald, Mrs. Jim Fritz and the
hostess.

project on "Sportswear from
Knits".
Officers elected are Presi-
dent, Pat McDonald, Secretary
rotating among the memberS.
The group discussed.different
types of knits and reviewed
measurements and talked about
knits suitable for the ,type of gar-
ment they are going to make.
It was stressed to get a pattern
only for knits. Membership pam-
phlets and hand out sheets were
distributed.
Miss Amy Love of Toronto has
returned home after visiting with
her sister, Mrs. Walter Broad-
foot.
Mrs. (Rev) D. Docken and
daughter Kristen visited with her
mother, Mrs. -James W. Daley,
Blenheim.
we are glad to report that
Tom Shortreed was able to leave
the Clinton Hospital, he is
staying at the home of his
daughter, Mrs. Mac Webster near
Varna.
Mrs. Mac Sholdice won the
trip to Florida sponsored by
the Geography Club of Grade 12
at the Seaforth District High
School.
Mrs. Art Heard is a patient
in wingham and District Hospital,
having surgery last week, we hope
she is, soon able to be home.
Mrs. W. Turnbull and Mrs.
Amy Speir of Brussels visited
one day last week with Mrs. Maud
Leeming.
Obituary
RUSSELL JAMES BONE
Russell James Bone, of 221
Shuter Street, Wingham, for-
merly of Morris Township,
passed away in Victoria Hospital,
London on Saturday, February 6th
after a short illness. He was 76
years of age.
Born in Morris Township, he
was ,the son of the late Henry
Bone and Lucy Souch. He was
educated in. Morris Township.
He was married to the former
Verena May Clark of Morris
Township on November 5th,I930,
in wingham parsonage. The
couple farmed in Morris until re-
tirement in Wingham, in 1966.
He is survived by his wife;
two daughters, Mrs. John (Lois)
Austin of Scarborough, Mrs. Jim
(Brenda) Griffiths of Wingham;
four sons, Kenneth and Keith of
Toronto; Glenn of R.R.5,
Britssels and Charles of Guelph
and nine grandchildren. Also
surviving is, one brother, George
of Brussels and one sister, Mrs.
Wm. (Mabel) McMichael of De-
troit.
Funeral services were held
from 'the S. J. Walker Funeral
Home, Wingha.m, at 3;30 p.m. on
Friday, February 9th with
Rev. Barry PassmOre officiating:-

In scanning the Zurich Citizens News, we note that the
new bus for the residents of Bluewater Ftest Home was
officially presented to the Home in a ceremony Sunday
afternoon. present for the presentation was Ernie Hovey,
president of the Bayfield Lions. Club, Tim Elliott, presi
dent of the Goderich Lions Club, Gary Thompson, presi-
dent of the Grand Bend Lions Club, Mrs. Arthur Brisson,
president of the Ladies' Auxiliary to the Rest Home and
Robert Westlake, president of the Zurich Lions Club,
Exeter Lions Club also donated towards the purchase ' of
the bus. - -. - Zurich Lions Club mernbers joined the
Bayfield Lions Club at dinner on Tuesday evening and

Bayfield Club. , .. According to the Blyth Standard the Blyth Board of
Trade moved Monday night to co-operate With the Blyth
Agricultural Society in trying to find a replacement for the
Blyth Fall Fair. - - - Sparks from a torch being used to
thaw pipes' in sub-zero weather at the home of Martinus
Bakker, R.R.3, Auburn, caused, a fire which destroyed the
farm home. The Blyth fire brigade had difficulty in the sub-
zero weather and the fire Spread' so rapidly' practically
nothing could be saved. ' The 'Mitchell Advocate reports that Perth County
council 'has approved 'a grant of $40,000 Over a two year
period .towards the construction of Ritz Lutheran Villa, the
home for senior citizens to be located just north of town
on Highway 23. It will be paid, over' two years, $20,000• in
1973 and the same amount in 1974. - - - Mr. Louis
Seeback marked his 90th birthday. at the home. of his son
Earl' in town when an open, house was held on Sunday. He
received two birthday cakes, one frOm his family, the other
from his grandchildren. Mr. Seebeck is enjoying good
health. - - - Mr. and Mrs. Ormond C. MacDougald marked
their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday. AmOng the
guests were William Walker, Guelph, who acted as best

The Teeswater News reports that Mr. and MrS. Joseph
, A . Voisin of Formosa were guests of honor at a surprise
i anniversary dinner at the home, of their son and daughter-
in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Magnus Voisin, on the occasion of their
55th wedding anniversary. ' . .

some $26,991 towards- the local swimming pool fund, 'as
the Lucknow fire departtnent donated $500 for the project.

sold his 150 acre farm to Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Stutzman
! of, Norwich. The original "home farin" was taken up from
i the crown in 1851 by their grandfather, Robert Murray.
In the Witigham Advance Times, we note that,the family
of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Matthews, Wroxeter, honored their
parents recently when the couple marked their 50th wedding
1 anniversary and held open house on St. Valentine's Day,
February 14th. - - -, Hugh Blair, Belgrave, met with a
painful accident Wednesday morning while working in the
bush.. A limb flew up and hit him in his right eye. He was
rushed to Victoria Hospital, London, where he underwent
surgery ,that night and had to have his' eye rernotred. He
is making a satisfactory recovery. - - — Ted Elliott, Zone '
Commander of the Royal Canadian Legion had thepriviledge
' of presenting The Wingham Advance-Tirnes Tropy to the first
place winner in' the junior secondary school division at the
publiC speaking contest in° 'the Legion Hall on Saturday.
