GWen Bernard won 6th with a tune from the bagpipes. (Photo by Ken Scott) Susan Langlois, Julie McCall, Julie Campbell and Michele McCutcheon made up the group known as the Ding-a-lings. They placed 3rd in the Friday night talent contest. ' (Photo by Ken Scott) 4 The Brussels Lions' Club sponsored a Talent Contest in conjunction with Polar Daize last Friday, at the Brussels Public School. The program was or- ganized by Lion s Jim Prior and Ken Scott. Lioa Ken introduced the Master of Ceremonies for the evening, Brian Elrnslie, who did an excellent job introducing the competitors, special guest, and keeping the program moving smoothly. In the to n and under cate- gory there were three entrtes: Step dancing were the Three Stompers (Patricia Haveman, Debbie Prior and Karen McLean). Ann Kumm yang "Down in the Valley" and "Hush Little Baby" and Trina Watts played e piano solo "Rainbow". Prizes : 1) And kurrthi;' 2) Three Stompers(Mrs.Camp- bell accompanied the Stompers) 3) Trine Watts. Special. Guest, Doris MoKin- ley, then entertained with her matirnba, with Lion Ken a.ccorn partying on the guitar as she played ii/slever tnding gong of Love".. I/ARV *WI Doris McKinley entertained again with a medley 'of Irish tunes. Henry Exel who was Program Chairman for Polar paize was introduced and he gave an ac- count of the week-end activities. The capable judges for the contest were Jerry Chomyn from CKNX and Don Dunbar from Brussels. Jerry Chomyn an- nounced the winners and Lions Jim Prior and Henry EXel pre- sented the prizes. Besides us- ing a scoring system, the judges were aided by an applause Metre which Roy Bennett of CKNX con- •trolled. The over-tall winner on the applause metre would have to be Charlie as the needle Went out of sight Lion Ken had some trouble with the record player and BrienElmslie suggested that the record player be repladed along with the principal. ' Althciugh the audience was not as large as was eXpeeted, they were most enthusiastic which was appreciated very Mitch by the competitors.. Brien ElMslie brought an enjoyable evening to a Close.
