Mrs, Joe Walker
The annual meeting of Knox
Presbyterian Church was held
last Tuesday evening in the Sun-
day School room with Interim
Moderator, Rev. R.H. Arms-
trong, in charge who opened
the meeting by reading scripture
and leading in prayer. Mrs. Wm.
Mundell, secretary, read the
minutes of the previous annual
meeting, also other congrega-
tional meetings held during the
. year.
Denis Freeman, a second year
student at Knox College, Toronto,
has been resident student minis-
• ter since May 1972.
Ross Gray, clerk of the ses-
sion, reported a membership at
present of 120 and three baptisms
during the year.
The treasurer, Mrs. Wm.
Mundell reported all expenses of
the church had been met. All
organizations reported a suc-
cessful year. The W.M.S. had
an average attendance of 16 at
their meetings with several
ladies having perfect attendance.
The Ladies' Aid had several
successful projects during the

FUNERALS
MISS AMELIA COX ; Reg. N.
Miss Millie Cox, William St.,
Brussels, passed away at the
Wingham District Hospital on
Saturday, February 10th, 1973.
Miss Cox was a graduate of
Weston School of Nursing, Tor-
.onto, Ontario and after nursing
for 26 years in New York City
returned to Ontario due to the
illness of her parents, the late
Richard Cox and Sarah Michael.
After nursing for several years
in Ontario she became the Dir-
ector of Nursing of the Beck
Memorial Sanatorium at London.
Miss Cox was a member of the
Melville Presbyterian Church,
B russels. •
She is survived by her sister,
Mrs. Allan Smith (Mabel). A
brother Fred predeceased her.
The body rested at the M. L.
Watt Funeral Home until Monday
Feb. 12. Interment was in Mount
Pleasant Cemetery, Ethel.
Pallbearers were nephews:
Jack Cox; Harvey Smith; Joe
Smith; Ross Smith; Larry Smith;
Lloyd Smith and flowerbearers
were: Rodger Smith, Fred Smith
and Carmen Smith.
MRS. JOHN RILEY
Mrs. John Riley passed away
at her home in Brussels on
Wednesday, February 7th. She
was in her 89th year.
The former Elizabeth Wright,
she was the wife of John Riley,
who survives. Als0 surviving
are six daughters, Mrs. Samuel
(Winnifred) Boutet of Don Mills;
Mrs. Jack (Evelyn) Hopi of Cali,
gary, Alta; Mrs. CheSter (Jean)
Alderson of North Bay; Mrs.
Gordon (Irene) Hopf of Strat,-
ford; Mrs. Aaron (Margie) Lease
Of Stratford; Mrs. 'Lou (Irma)
Peachman of WaSaga Beach; Four
sons, Clifford of Brussels;
Gilbert of Grand Valley; Fer-
guson of Wingham and Oliver of
WrOxeter. thirty-three grand-

She was predeceased by two

News of Bluevale
Knox Church holds annual meeting
School Superintendeir reported
an ,active year with 57 on the roll.
Three new members were a.p-
pointed to the managing board,
Fraser Haugh, Paul Moffatt and
Mrs. Joe Walker.
Mrs. Harvey Robertson ex-
pressed thanks to Ross Gray
for the time and effort spent
with the choir as their leader,
and congratulated them on their
fine showing. In appreciation,
Mrs. Joe Walker presQnted him
with a gift on behalf of the con-
gregation. He expressed his
sincere thanks to.everyone. Ber-
nard Thomas tendered a vote of
appreciation to Rev. R.H.
Armstrong for his time and trou-
ble in acting as Interim Mode-
rator.
Mr. Armstrong closed the
meeting with the benediction and
a social hour followed.
Ladies' Aid
The Turnberry Ladies' Aid of
Bluevale Presbyterian Church
met Wednesday, February '7 at
the home of Mrs. Jim ,Wright.
There were 7 ladies in attendance
and the afternoon was spent quil-
ting. Lunch was served by the
hostess.
U.C.W. 'MEET
The United Church Women
of Bluevale held their meeting.
Wednesday afternoon, Feb.7 with
Mrs. Jack Nicholson presiding.
Unit 1 was in charge of devotions.
Mrs. Bill Peacock and Mrs.
Jack Nicholson presented a dia-
logue. The subject was "Take
Time." Mrs. Carl Johnston had
the topic. Mrs. Charles Mathers
read the Scripture.
EUCHRE PARTY
The Bluevale Recreation
euchre party was held in Blue-
vale Community Hall on Thurs-
day. Feb. 8 with 8 tables. Mr.
and Mrs. Mel Craig and Mr.
and Mrs. Ross Turvey were in
charge.
High ladies' prize was won by
Mrs. J.J. Elliott; Low, Mrs.
Tom Miller; High man, Tom Mil-
ler; Low, Danny Campbell; Lucky
Draw, Mrs. Harry Elliott.
The next euchre will be held
Feb. 22 with Mr. and Mrs. Har-
vey Edgar and Mrs. Jim Elston in
charge.
U.C. W. MEETING
Mrs. J. Nicholson, new presi-•
dent presided at the meeting of
Bluevale U.C.W. held February
7 in the S.S.Room.
Members of Unit 1, Mrs.
Chas. Mathers, Mrs. Carl John-
ston, Mrs. W m. Peacocli'and Mrs.
J. Nicholson helped to develop
the theme, "Take Time", durl
the devotional period.
During business period Mrs.
J. Casemore, Cec. and Mrs. B.
Hastings presented their reports.
A letter of thanks was read
from the Children's Aid Society,
for gifts sent from the group
after the December meeting.
The President named Mrs.
Jim Armstrong as guest speaker
for World's Day of Prayer to be
held in the Presbyte.rtan Churcli
on March 2nd.
Plans were completed for the
Church service which the U.C.
W. are conducting on Sunday,
February 18th.
A list of articles was given,
which would be acceptable for a
parcel to be sent to Miss Joyce
Hetherington after the April'
neeting.
Delcr.tes were chosen for the
Presbytery meeting in Seaforth i
February 28th.
Mrs. Ken Johnston, Unit 4,
gave a reading "My Friend".
After the meeting a bake sale
was held and lunch served by
Unit 2.

visited Sunday with Mrs. R.H.
McKinnon. Mrs. William Mil

Mr. Ross Mann and. Miss
Sandra Thompson were in London
last Tuesday for a: check up.
We hope they both keep improv-
ing.
Mr. and Mrs. James Darling,
Stephen and Ronnie of Belmore
visited Saturday with Mr. and
Mrs. Fraser Haugh and Eileen.
Mr. and Mrs. John McMichael
of Listowel visited with Mr. and
Mrs. Gordon Hall during the
past week. Sunday visitors with
Mr. and Mrs. Hall were Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Hall and family of
Shakespeare and Mr. and Mrs.
Jack Scott, Sherry and Leanne
of Newton.
Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Noble,
Wayne, Paul, and Brian of Brit-
ton visited Sunday with Mr. and
Mrs. Fraser Haugh and Eileen.
Also visiting Sunday at Haugh's
were Phylis Darling of Belmore
and Dale Bridge of Wingham.
Mrs. George McCord re-
ceived word Thursday evening the
death of her stepson, Edgar Mc-
Cord. She left Friday morning to
attend' the funeral on Sunday in
Reva, Virginia.
