WMS holds February meeting

Mrs.Lewis Stonehouse
The W. M. S. met at the
home of Mrs. Victor Young-
blut on Tuesday afternoon of
last week with 11 present.
The meeting opened with hymn
"All the Way My Saviour Leads
Me". Mrs. George Fear read
scripture taken from Psalm 113.
Meditation entitled "Pride and
Vanity" was read by Mrs. Mae
Scott. A prayer was given by
Mrs. Robert Purdon.
The topic was taken by Mrs.
J. C. McBurney from the study
on India. She read two chap-
ters, the Roll. Government and
the Health of Nations and Indus-
trial Policies.
The secretary's report was
read by Mrs. J C. McBurney
and the treasurer's report by
Mrs. Victor, Youngblut. Seven-
teen sick and shut-in visits were
reported.
The roll call was answered
by a favourite hymn, and its
author.
Hymn "0 Master Let Me
Walk with Thee" was then sung.
Mrs. Joseph Dunbar closed
the meeting withS prayer.

munity rooms last Wednesday

ha m and Teeswater.
Friends of Mrs. John Ander-
son are sorry to hear that she is
a patient in Victoria Hospital,
London.

In scanning the Mitchell Advocate it is reported that at
the regular monthly meeting of the Jaycees that the group
will purchase furnishings for a room at the Ritz Lutheran
Villa and the executive has agreed to support the centennial
committee wherever possible. - — Reg. Robinson, R.R.2,
Mitchell, was elected president of the Mitchell Agricultural
Society and, Mrs. Ormond Pridham heads. the ladies'
division. - - - Mr. Clare Reith, Seaforth, with the Public
Relations for Gay Lea, a Canadian owned industry, was guest
speaker at the Agricultural and Canadian Industries meeting
of the Staffa women's Institute recently.
From the Zurich Citizens News we note that for the first
time in the history of Stanley Township, a vote will be held
on the establishment of liquor outlets in the munici-
pality. - - A petition from residents of Hay Township
have asked the council to install a dusk-to-dawn light at
the main intersection of the Bronson Line and Town Line,
in the centre of Blake, a hamlet two and a half miles north-
west of Zurich. The main reason is the fact this inter-
section has been a dangerous spot for many years, with
visibility almost obscured from three directions. - -
Bayfield council at their regular meeting was informed that '
tenders have been called to build a new Post Office in the
Village of Bayfield and completion is to be within three
. months following the awarding of the contract.
The Lucknow Sentinel relates that the Ashfield Beach
Development gets the o.k. from Huron Planning Board. There
is provision for 105 lots and new concept gives public access
to beach swimming area. - - - Mrs. Annie Taylor, White-
church, marked her 99th birthday and Mrs. Ed. Thom,
Lucknow, marked her 91st birthday and marking her 95th
was Mrs. Alex (Sandy) Purdon. - - - The Riders ROost
Saddle Club of East Wawanosh now has a membership of 56.
Blyth Council, according to the Blyth Standard, initiates
action on sanitary sewers and will also make inquiries as
to Senior Citizens Housing here. - - - Committees of Blyth
Recreation, Village Council and the Little Theatre Group
are making inspection of Memorial Hall and will proceed
with further renovations as soon as is feasible, following
plans for fire escapes and electrical wiring improvements.
. The Goderich Signal Star tells that lifetime memberships
were presented on behalf of the Board of Directors of
the Maitland Golf and Country Club by Dan Murphy to Ron
Menzies and Jim Kinkead, in recognition of their many years
of service and membership. - - - Two local men, "Sonny"
Chisholm and Ren McGee were among a crowd of about 3,000
who watched auction history being made at Scottsdale,
Arizona, in January as over $1,000,000 worth of antique,
classic and vintage cars went on the auction blOck. One
bid went to $153,000 for a Nazi Staff Car.
• According to the Exeter Times-Advocate the Exeter
council readily endorsed a motion asking the Ontario Housing
Corporation to construct 32 one-bedroom apartments for
Senior Citizens in the community. - - - Derry Boyle, chair-
man of the Centennial committee advised the members at
their recent meeting that Senator Richard Stanbury had
accepted the official invitation to open the Exeter Centennial
celebration this summer. Senator Stanbury is a native of
Exeter, son of the late J. G. Stanbury, who was a local
lawyer and later a Judge for Lincoln County. - - Grand
Bend council •and Grand Bend Chamber of Commerce
passed resolutions asking that the village be included in
the riding of Huron. - - -Valentine's Day, Wednesday,
marked the wedding anniversaries of two couples. Mr. and
Mrs. Clarence Johns will celebrate their fiftieth anniversary
while their son, Gordon and his wife, Evelyn, will mark their
25th wedding anniversary.
The Clinton News-Record reports that about 150 members
and guests attended the opening ceremonies to mark the
twentieth anniversary of the building of the Legion Hall.

down to a four-course dinner and followed by a dance to mark
