Annual Report of Huron County Childress Aid and
Humane Society .Shows That 182 Children Have
Been Cared For in Past Year.
One midsummer day about eleven years ago Goderkh was favored with
a visit from a Toronto gentleman repeaentiug au organization Interested in
a type of welfare work which wax comparatively unknown in Goderkh at
that time. The business of caring for neglected and destitute children rex a
Provincial undertaking with an officer giving hi« full time to the work was
a line with wlrk•b Goderich chlorins with a few exceptiotd; were not at •11
familiar, hut after 'Melting to an illuminating address by the visitor, Mr.
J. J. Kelm), Provincial Superhtterdhent of the Children's Aid Society, a
dozen or more public eplrited eitlsens decided that Goderich should be more

actively rugged in this laudable work.
Later, at an organisation meeting in the ofste of Crown Attorney
Seager the question of appointing a Bounty agent was dtkcm.wd. The qual-
ifications of different men were considered but the meeting tlaally was unani-
mous in agreeing that the man for the position was Mr. George M. Filliott.
In the years which lace elapsed since Mr. Elliott assumed charge of
this praiseworthy work in Huron comity, the sound Judgment of the men
who chose him have been upheld time and again. Indeed, 110 Otte could
doubt the wisdom of his appointment after atteudtng a meeting in which he
dlscustws hie problems with his arroc•irter, or after scanning a repurt, of
whieh the following is a sample :
