SUMMER SPORTS.
Clinton 12, Goderieh 4.
Wednesday evening Clinton baseball
team made its first appearance this season
at Agricultural Park in a League game
with the home nine. The attendance was
good and the grounds in good condition.
The game, however, was not what one
would call first-class. Levis' pitching
for Goderich was away off, color. and
between hitting opposing batsmen and
the batsmen ' punching his offerings
whenever they could reach them, Clinton
scored five runs in the first innings. This
took the heart out of the team, -with the
result that in the eight innings played
Clinton scored 12 runs while Goderich
got 4. Sanderson went to the mound for
Goderich in the sixth and did (air work,
but it was too late to overcome CI nton's
lead. Cooper. who worked for Goderich
last year, was in the box for Clinton. and
although hit freely he tightened up in
close places, keeping the home team from
scoring toff -frequently. Bert McCreath
and Jack Wiggins were the umpires.
Baseball Notes.
Goderich plays at Clinton Friday even-
ing of this week.
Dick Tasker, who played third base
for Clinton Wednesday evening, is a
veteran at the game. He played hall
against Goderich years ago when these
two teams used to have some great
battles. In those day ` some of the players
who used to battle for Goderich were Sid.-
Malcolmson, Joe Doyle. Clem. Penning-
ton, Dave ("Yank") Thompeon, Eddie
Tilt. Dudley Holmes. Herb. and Albert
Robertson, "Daddy" Downs, Henry &lc -
Hardy, Fred Shannon, Charlie Shannon,
Ralph Hooper, and others whom we do
not call to mind at present. These names
will bring back pleasant memories to
some of the old-time baseball "fans."
