A well -attended' and enthusiastic
meeting was held at the town hall on
Tuesday evening to reorganize the
Goderith hockey club for the coming
season. With the return of several of the
boys who used to pray hockey before they
went overseas on military service, includ-
ing Ernie Pndham, Clarence Robertson,
"Buck" Buchanan, "Billy" Snarel and
Frank Megaw, the prospects are good for
a season of first -clans sport on the ice this
winter. As already reported. Goderich
has been entered in the intermediate
0. H. A. series. The officers tor the
coming season are: President, W. Drew;
vice-president, W. Doyle; secretary -
treasurer. W. J. Buchanan; executive, W.
Craig, Mayor Wigle, D. O'Dtien. Cht .-

OBITUARY.
BUCHANAN.-The death occurred at
Buchanan, Sask.. on Thursday, Novem-
ber 27th, of Hilbert Buchanan, a member
of a well-known Colborne township
family. The deceased was born in Col-
borne about sevens five years ago, the
eldest son of the late `John Buchanan. He
went to the'West in the -early SO's and in
time became prominent a%a ranchman and
a public-spirited resident -,pof Saskatche-
wan. He was also one of 'the sturdy
Liberals/of the West. A fee years ago,
owing to (Ailing health. he disposed of
his ranching interests and moved into the
town of Buchanan, which had been named
for him when the railway war built
through that section.-' He is survived by

his wife, whe was formerly Bessie Hayden,
of Sheppardton; also by four sisters: Mr••.
Chas. ISIcHardy and Miss Buchanan, of
Godes' ; Mrs. Alex. Young and Mrs.
John Clark, of Colborne. As a 'young
man before he went West, Mr. Buchanan
was known as one of the champion plow-
men of Huron county. He took part in
plowing matchsa.at Stratford mad London.
as well as at various placed in Huron and
Bruce counties, and captured a number
of prizes by his skill. Ile also had a
hand in the building of Smith's Hill
Presbyterian church, back in 1$72. He
was a man of strong character and left an
impress for good in the c'lmmunities in
which he dwelt. The body arrived in
Goderich on Wednesday. accompanied
by Mrs. Buthanan and her. sister, Mrs.
Crawford, of Neepiwa, M'sn., and the
funeral took place this (Thursday) after-
noon from the residence df' Mr. Charles
McHardy to Maitland cemetery. The
funeral services were performed by Rev.
P. F. Sinclair.

Train Serrfce Curtailed.
Asforeshad,twed last week, the G.T.R.
passenger train service has -been materi
ally curtailed in art effort to cope with
the coal shortage. The afternoon train
out and the midnight train in have leen
cancelled. There are now only two
trains out each day, one leaving at 11.05
a. m. and the other at 7.45 a.m.. the
latter being a mixed train which runs to
Stratford, arriving there at 105 p.m.
The trains arriving are at 11.50 a. m. and
7.10 p. m.
The C. 1'. R. timetable is not altered.
