SOC I AL OCCASION. —A most enjoyable
time was spent in St. Augustine Chards
Hall last Friday evening. The entertain-
ment war given under the auspices of the
Altar Society and consisted of a box
social and program. The program
included an instrumental duet by the
Misses Kearney, and a piano solo by
Miss A. M. Gibbons of Chicago, both
much appreciated; well-teridved vocal
solos by Miss Ethel Cummins and Miss
Gibbons, a short humorous dialogue by
' three children, splendid 'step dancing by
Mr. Jos. K Mahan. choice violin selections
by Mr. Raymond Redmond, and readings
by Miss Marie K. Welsh of Kincardine,
who delighted the audience with her
well-chosen selections and pleasing
personality. An interesting and enjoy-
able feature of the evening was the
auctioning of the boxes. by the well-
known auctioneer. Mr. J. Purvis'. whose
humorous remarks kept the gentlemen in
such good humor that the boxes were all
sold at high prices. Conde was served
with the lunch. Outing the evening the
choir was occupied by Rev. W. Moran.
