Clinton Tram Here Friday.
Chntun baseball team will play at Agri-
cultural Park on Friday ever int. when
the Godench nine will try to take the
champion.hip honor. they won at Zurich
on Labor Day' away from them.
Al Zurich on Labor flay.
There was a Targe attendance of people
at Zurich on Labor
Da when a
baseball
ball
tournament and footrace events were
held under the auspices of the Zurich
baseball team The receipts taken in at
the gate for the ball games amounted to
over $400. A concert was held at night
and another good crowd attended. The
ball teams taking part in the tournament
were Seaforth, Clinton, Goderich and
Zunch.
In the morning the Seaforth and Zurich
teams occupied the diamond. and Zurich
walked away with the game by the score
of 11 to 1. The Seaforth tam, outside
of the pitcher, played a very erratic game,
the fielding of the entire team being very
In the afternoon the (ioderich and
Clinton teams came together, the result
being that Clinton had an easy victory,
the score being 10 to 2 in their favor. The
Goderich team hit fairly well, but there
seemed to be a Clinton player ready to
take care of the ball as goon as it was hit.
Co,per and Bisset were the battery for
Goderich and Tasker pitched for Clinton.
The final game was between Zurich and
Clinton and again Clinton took the bacon,
this time by a score of 5 to 3. The Zurich
team did not play as well as we have
sten them perform, and when Clinton
made four runs in the first innings it
seemed to take the heart out of the
Zurich players.
13. H. McCreath, of Goderich, officiated
as umpire at hoth afternonn games.
Altogether it was a good day's sport,
and those who went from Goderich say
the ladies of Zurich will never let anyone
starve if the meals they read on Labor
Day are any criterion. Quite a number
of ' motets" from Goderich attended.
