UNG, Business Manager PHONES : Day M. Evening 137 - DANCES held in BAYFIELD every WEDNESDAY eve's, from 8 p.m. to 12 p.m., during June. July, 'August anctSept. Mr. A. M. Glover has just completed an addition to his present premises on East street that puts him in possesoon of the finest garage in this section of the country. It extends 70 feet deep and 30 feet (n width. With this add.tion he now has apptoximaiely 4.000 leer ,f flax space and the whole plant is well lighted. As will be seen in another column, he as making a spec a price on his regular stock for Just me week as an inducement for those who have not titetl the plant to come in and "visit." The progress of this business is interest- ing, to trace. When it Wes established nine years ago Mr. Glover operated in an old livery barn next to his present prem- ises. At that time there were only abcu.t a dozen cars m the d s.rict, out he did a good deal of gasoline engine work ant managed by close application to business to get what has become one of the pros- perous institutions of the town estab)st.e 1 on a firm bass. As the business grew. m, re up-to-date prem s s were found necessary, and he bougtil the house and lot next to the town hall and erected a cement block garage with all the latest iieas of construct on incorporated. In this he installed mi cninery to take care of the increasing amount of business that was being toninually offered, until now n . job is too large for his eqa pm nt and 1 nothing too Intricate. Si ce star -g1 bat- teries became such a necessary adjuuct to the modern car, he has installed a com- plete storage battery repair plant and during last winter and this season he has done a great deal of this work. Besides doing all classes of work, he has kept adding to his stock of rep.or material until bow he has on hand one of the molt complete socks to be found outside of a loge city. Lately it has been necessary to add help in order to cope with the work. Reg. Williams, who during the war was in the English Channel as a chief motor me- chanic of His Majesty's Motor Boat Patrol, is now with him, and Walter Ross, formerly with the National Ship- building Co. of Goderich, also is _helping to keep the work gang out. It has always been Mr. Glover's aim to keep the work "going :int." The sooner one job is out, the sooner another can he taken hold of. He has an overhead track with travelling crane to take care of moving heavy pieces of machinery from one part of the shop to another and a hundred and one other ap pliances to make things go smoothly and quickly. Anyone will be well repaid to pay a visit to the latest addition of what was the first garage established in this district and one that' has shown continual progress ever since i s inception. While the new addition is ha dly finirhed, pians are being formed to cover the rest of the lot with -a garage that will more than double the pregent floor space. and jut M soon as the foundations are got in for the steel plant we all hope to see in Goderich very shortly Mr. Glover intends to make another big extension. How ever, he had enough confidence in Gode- rich to start his -present addition before anyone knew the big new plant was likely to locate here. If more people had had this contr.!, nix in they own town G-dde rich would doubure' have gone ahead much faster than it has in the past. The Signal congratulates Mr. Glover upon his With and enterprise and wishes him the continued success which his in- dustry and capable management deserve. i 1Sdwanix homemade (antis has a replant loll all IM ow 11.
