Pte. Durrant enlisted in the 29th Bat
talion, Vancouver, B. C., early in 1915.
was wounded and captured at St. Eloi in
Apri I, 1916. and was a prisoner -of -war in
Germany for two years and seven
months. Ile made three futile attempts
to escape and was each time recaptured,
-once when he was within a few yard- of
the Holland border. In November last
he made his final attempt and landed in
Holland after ten days' travelling on foot.

tember 3rd last was wounded at Arras.
He has made good recovery. but intends
to remain with his parents kw a few
weeks before resuming his civilian em-
ployment.

Mr. John Manger. of the 1st conces-
sion. Goderich township, had part of the
roof taken off his barn by the storm on
the night of February '28th. He was for-
tunate enough to have it insured in the
Woodstock Wind Insurance Compan,
and James Connolly, who represents the
Company in this district. adjusted the
loss the next morning.
The Farmers' Club will meet next
Monday evening at the Orange Hal!.
Addresses will be given by Capt. Sloan,
lately returned from overseas, Lena. Jas.
McClinton. of the North Sea mining fleet,
and Capt. Fred Sturdy. A musical pro-
gram is being prepared. Everybody wel-
come. Ladies especially invited. The
roll is increasing every meeting, but there
is still room for more.

(near Port Albert), has been awardod
the distinction of the Military Medal
