Health Is Restored.
A great many people, especially ladle*
of culture and refinement, feel a great
r in publicly endorsing a prop-

rie y medicine although they have de-
rived untold benefit tram its use, as pub
licity is more ox less distasteful"to them.
Toa Great extent this is the case of
Mrs. U. E. Patrie, wbo kves at the Port.
land hotel.• Pun land, Oregon. However,
to use her words. "she [eels that she would
be ungrateful and delinquent in her duty
if she did not tell others the wonderful
benefit elle has received from Tanlac"
While Mrs. Patric has lived in Portland

several years. and later being elected clerk
and recorder of Bingham county. After-
wards he was elected Secretary of State,

of the central committee of the State Re-

In speaking of her experience with
Tanlac, Mrs. Pattie recently said: "1

Tanlac, My health failed about a year
ago. My appetite left me almost entirely,
and I didn't relish what little I did eat,
and 1 lust felt tired and listless all the
time. 1 was extremely nervous and never
slept well and would just lie in bed and
long for daylight to come. I finally de-
cided to take 7 trip back to Idaho, think-
ing that a change might do me some good,
but I didn't improve at all.
In a very short time after I began

have a splendid appetite now and thor-
oughly enjoy my meals without any bad
after effects. My nerves seem to be in
perfect condition and 1 am thankful to
say that 1 get good, sound, refreshing
sleep every night. It is wonderful how
my weight and strength have increased.
and I can truthfully say that 1 and as
well and strong now as 1 ever was in my

I Six months later, however, Syr Wilfrid -
(tben plain Mr. Laurie° went to England
to attend the jubilee of Queen Victoria.
l'he reception accorded him by the British
people was remarkable for its warmth.
he handsome, distinguished young
French-Canadian statesman took London
by storm, the press and public acclaiming
his talents, and Queen Victoria bestowing
upon him particular at ention and re-
spect. One evening the Queen gave a
dinner for the overseas Prime Ministers.
When the young Canadian Premier, who
was again honored by being seated next
Her Alajesty, took his seat at the banquet
table. he found a card upon which Queen
Victoria herself had written "Rt. Hon. Sir
Wlllyd Launer." There was no way out
of such a situation. The aged Queen had
taken thus means of honoring him. and
Sir %Vilfrid's chivalry and gallantry. as
well as his genuine affection for the great
vex! monarch, triumphed over his demo-
cratic views.
