learn with regretof the death of Jennie M.
Morton recently of Akron, Ohio, which
occurred on Sunday. December 29th. at
the home of her brother, Mr. A. R. Mor-
ton. at Seattle. Washington, after a ling-
enng illness. Miss Morton, who was
thirty-seven years of age, lived in Gode-
rich as a girl, being th' daughter of the
late Alexander Merton of this town. She
was a graduate in design and decorative
art of the Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, and
the Ontario School of Art, Toronto. She
is survived by her mother, Mrs. C. R.
Morton. who resides at 121A1 Tenth ave.

is vice-president of the National Bank of
Commerce at Seattle.

HOLMES.-111x. Bruce Holmes. son of
Mr. John Holmes, of Goderich township,
died Wednesday evening in Alexandra
ho'pital following an operation for appen-
dicitis. The deceased was aged thirty-
seven years and five months and leaves a
