Mr. Thos. Stothers was in Goderich
Friday last on business regarding the
West Shore Railway. Torn says every-
thing is in fair shape on the road and he
does not expect the snow this winter wil
interfere much with trains.
One of the worst wind and sleet storms
experienced in these parts for some time
swept over the district on I'uesiav night
and did considerable damage. The tele-
phone lines on the heavy leads were
blown to the ground and the poles
snapped off.

The orchestra from Goderich last Fri
day night had some trouble getting out'
arriving late for the dance. The car
they had oaulked and refused to go to
their music. For dances they cannot be
beat. but for running cars in a foot of

MISS STIRLING FlOMR. -It was with the
greatest pleasure that the neighborhood
learned last Monday of the safe arrival at
St. John of Nursing Sister Maude Stir-
ling, en route for home. Miss Stirling has
been on active service since May, 1915,
during which time she has cared for the
sick and wounded in France, in Greece
and in different hospitals in England.
Some months ago she, with a few other
Canadian nurses, were decorated by the
King. at Buckingham Palace, with the
order of the Royal Red Cows. LAO wintir
