tre Next Week.
Mr. Lauder. proptietot of the Model
Theatre. has kindly offered to donate to
the Soldiers' Memorial Fund the net pro-
ceeds of two evenings. Wednesday and
Thursday of next week. when the famous
story **Within the Law" will be pre-
sented on the screen. The performances
will be under the auspices of the Menese-
lung Canoe Club, which has arranged for
A special program for Thursday night in
addition to the picture. Mr. H. Mac-
gregor and the M sses Lett le and Watson
will sing, the Goderich Orchestra will
play. and other features may be added. •
Tickets are 35c. and may be secured in
advance from members of Menesetung
Canoe Club. The tickets already issued
for Wednesday evening are good for
either night.

three Atom Hurl in boys returned from
France- Ptes. 11. J. Attie, Beniniller:
Goderich. All three have been wounded
and being convalescing in England when
the armistice was signed were among the
first to be returned to Canada. They
were met at the station by Mayor Wigle
and members of the council. as well as a
large number ot citizens. A procession
marched to the Square, where addresses
were delivered by a number of prominent
citizens, after ahich the boys were es-
corted to their homes.
Sergt. Melville Rhynas. who had spent
the past two years oversees. arrived in
town on Wednesday and is visiting his
mother, Mrs. W. A. Rhynas. Sergt.
Rhynas enlisted at Calgary in 1916 and
proceeded overseas in a draft shortly , af-
ter. On his arrival in France he was at
tached to the famous 49th Battalion and
was severely wounded at Passchendaele.
He has spent the past eight months -in
different hospitals ol France and England.
It is aim st eleven years since he last
visited Goderich. After a short stay
here he will report at his military head•
quarters at Calgary.
The following letter has been received
by Mr. John II. Barker, of Colborne
township. with reference to the death of
his son, Pte. J: roes H. Barker, who was
killed in action on September 27th. 191s:

DEAR MR. BARKER. -1. aga writing
to assure you of the sincere syrhpathy of
our whole battalion with you and yours
in the death of your son. Pte. James H.
Barker, 3131538. who was killed in ac
tion last Friday morning. He was ad
vancing with his company' in our attack
on the farnous Bourlon Wood when
he was hit by a machine-gun bullet in
the heart and instantly killed. That
afternoon I found he, hody on the battle-
tield, and remembered his personal effects.
