For several years he was a .member of the
U. of T. track team, being the champion
discus thrower. and a notable shot-putter.

age, and is survived by he parents, Mr.
and Mrs. William Walter, of Colborne

George Stokes was wounded In 'the knee
that day. On Tuesday we had a little
more resistance, but our dash and pluck
won all over for us. I still conhnutd
through it safe. On Wednesday morning
we went over the top again, and 1 had
the misfortune of being hit in the thigh.
just above the knee. by a bullet from a
machine gun. 1 was out of action then.
1 also had the misArtune of not being
able to get picked up and I lay out in a
shell hole tor three days and nights, but 1
do not feel any the worse for my exper-
ience, outside of my wound. which gives
me a good deal of pain. i am in a nice
hospital here. and the lusters are all real
nice. 1 don't know whether I will be
going to Blighty or not. i certainly hope
1 do. 1 have sone Fritz money for a sou-
venir and I will rend it home as soon as 1
can. Do not worry over me. as I am all
right now Well, 1 will close now for

Corp. Arthur D. McGillicuddy, son of
the late Daniel McGillicuddy. formerly
editor of The Signal. has died of wound%
in France. His mother lives in Toronto.
Among the casualties recently reported
appears the name of William Stanley
Masson. fourth son of the late Judge
Masson of Goderich, who was killed in
action in France. September 27. He had
been overseas since an early period of the
war.
Mr. and Mrs. A. Stun received word
on Saturday that their son. Pte. William
Sneed. was admitted to hospital at Man-
chester. England, October 5th. suffering
from a gunshot wound in the jaw.
From a cable despatch it is learned that
Lieut. A. Roy Adams, reported wounded
some week• ago. is now in a hospital at
London. The desoatcb indicates that he
is in a serious conddton with a fractured
skull
