Pte. James Mac oar, who arrived home
on Wednesday. has had a try ing war ex-
perience. lie enlisted at Calgary and went
overseas in the fall of 1!115 and to France
in January, 1910. He *a- wounded In April
of that ear at Sanctuary, Wood. recov-
ered and went back to the lines, and at
the Somme. on September :9J. 1916, he
received ikouods which put him hnally in
the pun-cuiqbatant class. He was struck
by San expldeive bulla Which inflicted
very severe injuries. including Phe shat-
tering of his lettip. He lay •for fourteen
-months In howl 1 in England ,with a
wedghrattached to is leg and hada dozen
or more operations.. Tilt very best of
medical and surgical skill was given to the
case, and after two year 1e• has so far re-
covered that he can get\around with a
cane. When he arrived by‘P,.., R. train
yesterday noon he was greeted by a civic
committee. consisting of R e La1th-
%%mite. Deputy Reeve Clark and. Town
Clerk Knox. end was dnven to the home
of his parents. Mr. and Mrs James Mac -
Vicar, Rincks street. After two weeks at
h( me he leaves for Toronto to undergo
further medical treatment.
