the supply would be exhausted by the
last week of the month. and that the
Godench Exhibition. at Wednesday.
Thursday and Friday. would be favored

The casualty returns bring more sad
news to Goderich this week. On Wed-
nesday word came of the death of Pte.
Charles C. Littlechild, sou of Mr. and
Mrs. William Littlechild. St. David's
ward. Three weeks ago it was reported
. that Pte. Littlechild was dangerously
wounded. He was a rnember of the
, "Hurons"
A message came this morning convey-
ing the unwelcome news of the death of
Lieut. Roy A. Walter, who died of
I wounds September 29th. Roy, who was
a son of Mr. and Mrs. William Walter,
Colborne, was one of the finest boys who
I went overseas from Goderich, and his
death .Is felt as a personal loss by many
who 'knew him and admired his manly
qualities. Ile went overseas with the 16Ist
Hurons.
The wounded include Pte. Ernest Laws,
gassed, and Acting Sergt. Charles Dhrlald
Ross, son of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Ross.
Elgin avenue, dangerously wounded in
the hip,
Word has been received by Mr. and
Mrs. A. Challenger, Elgin avenue, that
their son, Pte. William Stanley Challeng-
er, was gassed September 23rd while
' fighting in France and is now in hospita
at Boulogne. He enlisted with the Alber
kir Reserves and went overseas in th
early part of this year and had been 1
France only two weeks before he was
gassed.
TO BUILD BOILER SHOP.
National Shipbuilding Co. Making Large
Addition to Its Plant.
A special meeting of the town tt uncil
wa%held on Monlay night to complete
arrangernents with the National Ship-
building Co. for the transfer of the site of
the new boiler shop. The new building
whose main dimensions are to to 40 by
143 feet, will be erected to the north of
the Company's present budding at the
G. T. R. tracks. on land which was part
of the Wheel Rigs property and which
is now being sold to the National Ship-
byflding Co. by the town.
Mr. M. G. Cameron, who appeared
before the town council for the Company,
stated that the new buildingand machin
cry would cost about 875,000. Contracts
were on hand that would keep the shop
running day and night for a year, and
tifty additiuna men wonkl be needed.
The new building is to be of 1 he most
substantial construction. .
The council agreed to sell to the Com-
pany a piece of land with tit) feet front-
age on Maitland road and 200 feet on
Oxford street. The price was fixed at
5250. a
It is understood that arrangements
have been made whereby a sufficient
supply of steel plate is assured for the
contracts the Company has on hand.

Sergi. J. Reg. Platt is again off to the
war, having joined the Canadian unit for
service in Siberia. Ile was home from
London on Friday night and left the nee
day. Sergt. Platt enlisted first in 191
and was in France for fifteen months wit
the Canadian Field Artillery. He re
turned home, wounded, a year ago, and
after recove y had been with the A. M. C
at London the last six months.

Rhynas, to Miss Jessie McLellan, of
