lire receipts of the day. including the
committee's share in the receipts from
"The Lass of Limerick," were about
$13.10. This is considered very satisfac-
tory, especially in the face of the unfavor-
able weather conditions, and should leave
a considerable surplus tor patnotic par-
poees.
There was a small crop of accidents
during the day, but. nobody, we believe.
was at all seriously hurt.
It takes a horse race to draw the crowd.
Nobody could remember a First of July
with such cold weather.
Lionel Parsons' exhibit in the morning
parade was a good one. Represening at,
"coon," he had his car tilled with black=
faced pickaninnies, and on. the car were
such mottoes as "Watch Us Grow,"
"Huron's Golden Gait." etc.
Two cars of "farmerettes," driven by
Mise Olive Allen and Miss Marion Lee,
were very cleverly got. -up and represented
a great deal of work. it was a pity they
could not get prizes, but they did not
seem to come exactly under the heading
of decorated cars and they certainly were
not calithumpians. Anyway, the young
ladies contributed very mljch to the suc-
cess of the parade.
Where did Bill Lumby get the high
wheel ' It was of the vintage of about
18&5.
Charlie Black's car, a clever represen-
tation of a military "tank," came to grief
in the high wind. The design was so
original and so well carried out that the
judges awarded it a prize.
The East Street Garage was represented
by a big float displaying bicycles, auto-
mobile tires and other goods. The matt
with a suit of automobile tires was quite
an attraction.
Five young ladies in Red Cross costume
came from Wingham to take part in the
parade. They were caught in the rain on
the way down and most of the decorations
of their car were washed away. However,
the judges awarded them a prize in recog-
nition of their enterprise in coming such a
distance. The ladies were Misses E.
Rush, I. Vannorman, J. Currie, E.
Erskine and S. MacDonald.
One of the most urgent needs at the
tees, John Bedfo.d and Edward Pndham.

The pallbearers at the cemetery were:
Walter Dalton. John Long, Blaine Martin
and Joseph Riley'.
Besides the father and mother, there
are lett three sisters and two brothers:

The + ay was saved. so far as the
finances were concerned. by the extensive

scores of automobile parties from outside
points, many from a considerable distance.;
