At a meeting of the council of the Board of Trade ora Tuesday night it was decided to invite the Town Development Co., of New York City to send a re- presentative hire to address the business mat. A luncheon will be arranged for the occasion, and it is hoped to secure the attendance of some of the high offi- cials of the Canadian Pacific Railway. The date will be arranged after hearing from the New York people. Hip -bone Fractured. A most distressing accident ha on Thursday last to Mrs. Jas. lark mother of Deputy Reeve W. F. Clark, at her horse in Colborne township. In the act of turning around her hip -bone cracked, and in falling site was leve iy bruised. She has since been suffering greatly, and as she has reached the age of eighty-three years the prospect of a speedy recovery are not bright. She has the sympathy of many friends in town and country in her misfortune. To Sell Salt Works. The business of the North Am- erican Chemical Co. has been placed in the hands of a liquidator, and the plant and other assets are offered for sale by tender. In the meantime the manu- facturing operations of the Company are being continued by the liquidator, under the order of the Court. The present production of salt is said to be 200 barrels per day. March 22nd. The deceased was born fifty-two years ago in Kinloss township, a daughter of the late William Cole. Mr. Shier died many years ago in Goderich, and th • widow had since then lived at Toronto. She is sur- vived by two sons,- Walter H. ,who is serving overseas, and Albert, of Toronto. Several brothers and sisters live in Brute. county. CURRELL.-Another old citizen was called to his rest on Sunday, March 24. when Mr. George Correll died at° the home of his daugher. Mra Wm. Mc- Creath, Victoria street, in his ninety- second year. He passed away very quietly, without any warning or previous illness, and was in possession of his men- tal and physical faculties to the last. He was a native of Hertfordshire, England, and came to this country with his wife in 113.51. settling first at Guelph. to number of years later he aime to the township .of Tuckersmith and afterwards farmed suc- cessively in Goderich township. GEORGE'S VESTRY. Good Progress Made in All Departments of Church Work During the Year. The annual vestry meeting of St. George's church was held on Easter Mon- day evening tete rector, Rev. A. L. G. Clarke, presiding. The reports disclosed a year of progress in all departments of church work. After paying all expenses out of current revenue there remained a balance to tbe good of several hundred dollars, which was directed to be paid in reduction of the debt. Missionary givings had also increased very largely. The Sunday school report showed growth and progress of a very satisfactory nature, and the various organizations also 'made a re- markably good showing. Gif s to the church include a litany desk, a window in memory of the late Lt. Leo Eliot, and kneeling benches throughout the church. The attendance at all services, and es- pecially the number of communicants, was very encouraging. The rector ap- pointed 1\1r. Geon Porter as his warden, and Mr. G. L. arsons was re-elected people's warden; easurer, Judge Dick- son; vestry clerk,' Mr. T. L. Prest; etdesmen. Mr. J. S. Pliltt (convener) and Messrs. Walton, King, Bingham, Brophey, Holland and Dr. Caesar. It was directed that a resolution express- ing the vestry's keen regret, at the re- moval of Mr. and Mrs. W. L liot from the 'parish should b suitably inscribed and presented to them. h- The meeting closed after votes orf thanks had been extended to the various organizations which had discharged their duties so faithfully. At a subaequent meeting of the congre- gation the following were elected lay delegates to Synod: Mr. G. L. Parsons, Judge Dickson; substitutes, Mr. I. Salk- eld, Dr. Caesar.
