Mayor Wigle occupied the chair. A committee was formed with Councillor T. R. Wallis as chairman. Rev. J. E. Ford as vice-chairman. and Mr. W. F. Naftel as secretary. A cap- tain was appointed for each poi tag sub- division of the town, as follows: No. 1. A. D. McLean; 2, C. M. Robertson; 3. J. J. Moser; 4, W. M. Knight; 5, Geo. Porter; 6. Rev. J. E. Elliott Concludes Two Weeks' Evangelistic Campaign. A large congregation gathered in the Baptist church last Friday evening to hear Rev. O. C. Elliott give his final ad- dress, which closed the two weeks' evangelistic campaign he had been con- ducting in Goderich. 1n the early part of the service, several rousing hymns were sung by the congregation, led by Knox church orchestra. Two selections by the Knox church male quartette were among the much -appreciated items of the song service.` ques- tionElliott took for his text the gue tion .of the Phi lippian gaoler, "What must I do to be saved'" and Paul s clear answer, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved." The preacher by logic and apt illustration drove home the truth that the gaoler's question is a present. personal, practical cry of all men. Many have endeavored to answer in various ways; but reformation, philanthropy, and a show of religion all fail to save. Paul's is the only reply: "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and u shalt be saved." oho The closing address was typi- cal of all Mr. Elliott's sermons. He was logical and sane in all his mes- sages. Bible references were very and his apt. At the close of each service he made an impassioned appeal for recruits for King Jesus. Several responded, and admitted Christ into their lives.
