The performant•esof the Lady Minstrels at Victoria Opera House on Thursday and Friday evenings of last week were a splendid success. Bumper houses greeted the players on both nights, and the sub- stantial sum of 3390 was netted for the funds of Alexandra hospital. The young ladies deserve infinite credit for their effort and for the ability which they demonstrated in putting on a performance of a kind that is usually' left to the men. Of course, they had to have some boys to do the funny parts; but they are learning fast. and next time the boys may have nothing to do with the performance but shift the scenery. The first part was a minstrel show of the regulation type, with a black -faced chorus and black -faced and pictur- esquely -garbed" end -ladies,'' Miss Adelaide Nairn was the interlocutor and `did her part in admirable style. The "end -ladies" were Virginia Creeper (Miss Edith Mc- Manus), .Angelina Spigot (Miss Lulu Mitchell), Melinda Corn Tassel (Mr. Hal- liday Smith), Chloe Possum (Mr. (;. L. Parsons). Mandy Lee (Mr. E. Sexemithi and Lucinda Snowflake (Mr. - H. O. Sturdy ). Each had a song, and both songs and choruses were well executed. Other soloists. all of whom, as well as three al- ready mentioned, were encored, were Miss Irma Whitely, who sang "Love's Hour;" Miss Isobel Doolittle, who gave an ex- quisite rendering of a beautiful yang, Gond Night:" Miss Mildred McColl, who sang "Indiana" in spirited fashion; Mie Kata Lyttle, whose song,"Sweet Adair,' "s PUBLIC NOTICE.
