' AUBURN MOURNS A HERO'S DEATH.-- Mr. Joseph Carter on Monday eceived the sad news of the death of his yongest son, John. who was killed in action in France. John enlisted with the 181at, Battalion. After reaching England he was taken in the first dr7lft to France,and had been in the trenches since December last. He was a general favorite and his death is mourned by many friends. Russell Milton Bell, reported wounded October 3Ist, with a cont 'sion of the ankle, is one of three sons of Mr. David Bell, of town, who have been "doing their bit." Wilfrid is in the trenches in France and Victor is a prisoner in Germany. Mr. Bell also has two grandsons in France: Nelson McMath, I of Regina, and Wm. Ptwticthwaite, of Brantford. Mr. Bell himself returned only a few months ago from England.
