year. He had been in failing health'
for the last two year*. He lived in
Morris township for over thirty years,
and with his wife and'daughter, Miry
Alice, came to Brussels in 11401. He 1
is survived by his wife, three sons and 1
four daughters. One of the sons is
Ral. (ieo. Jewitt, of Springfield.

Official word has been received to
the effect that Pte. Roscoe Mahoney,
of Olenasoan, who trained with the
Wroxeter detatchment of the 181.1
lfattalioc, was killed in action. He
was a floe young man and bis death
is deeply regretted. Pte. Tony Mee -
ban, also from Wroxeter, had been
admitted to a hospital in France, suf-
fering from gunshot wounds in the
back.
Rev. D. D. and Mrs. Thomson, of
the Methodist church, Bluevale, re-
cently celebrated the twentieth anni-
versary of their wedding, and the oc-
casion was marked by a cangrega-
tional gather ing at which Mr. and
Mrs. Thomson were presented with
an address conveying congratulations
and good wishes. A gold -beaded um-
brella was presented to the pastor and
is chins cabinet in quarter -cut oak to
Mrs. Thomson.

listed for military service has been un-
veiled in the church. The names in-

Mies Mabel Novenlock, of Van-
couver, B. U., is spending holidays at
the home of her parents, Mr., and
Mrs. J. R. Oovenlack.
Mrs. Mundie, a daughter of the late
Wnm. Johnston of Seaforth, died at
Buffalo on the 110 inst., aged forty-
seven years. The remains were
brought to Seaforth for interment.
The remains of the late Mrs. Ed-
ward Latimer were interred in Malt -
landbank cemetery on Wednesday of
lest week. Mrs. Latimer lived at
Seaforth for many years before the
family moved to Brampton. where
her death took place on the 160 inst.

Man., was killed in the terrible battle
of Vimy Ridge on April 12th.
The wedding sow solemnized at De-
troit on July 180 of Gordon N. Wood-
ley and Mies Ella M. Wade. daughter
of the late Mr. and Mrs. (reo. Wade,
formerly of Wingham.
Word was received last week by
relatives here of the drowning of Miss
Tena MeLean, of Duluth, Mion., on
the 16th inst. The remains are being
brought home to Ripley for interment.

Reid and Mre. J. O. Vansickle, of
