To the People of Goderich.
FELLOW CiTiZENS,--
In view of the veru serious nature of the present situation as
result of the World War our Empire is engaged in, we earneetly ask
your consideration of some facts, with a view to stimulating pro-
duction in our own town during the present year. Every plot of
ground cultivated within our own borders not only adds to the tom•
fort of the family benefitting by its product, but means that much
less to be drawn from the food supply of the world. Here are a few
facts upon which we ask you to ponder :

In view of this can we in Goderich not do everything possible
to raise more produce here'' We shall need it for ourselves, and if
we do not grow it we shall have to pay famine prices before another
year dawns.
After consultation by a number of citizens, including represent-
atives of the Town Council, Beard of Trade, Patriotic Bunch and
business and financial men, it was decided to make a house to house
canvass of the town, to urge even' one to put forth" an extfa effort
NOW to cultivate every lot in our town limits. You may have all
the ground you can attend to --will you not plant and cultivate it to
its fullest extent'' If you can work another lot, and do not know
where to get one, let us help you get it, and see that it is not left
lying idle. __
Notwithstanding that the majority of Goderich householders
have their own little garden, we believe enough more produce can
he raised by a united effort to rusk, us lees dependent upon outside
sources of supply', and perhaps allow some for export or outside sale.
We have only the general good at this time, and a sense of
fluty in a gram world otitis, as our motive in making this appllal
and ue ask you to join with us and as fellome nihinens leaving a com-
mon interest and a common patriotism, in seeing that (iorierich
responds to the world call and "does its hit" with whole hearted
unity.
You will be called upon by the representatives appointed for

appeal is made.
