The (creat Lakes have not been
studied long enough to warrant defin-
ite calculation as to the permanent
effect o! turning their water into other
channels. However, it has been noted
that Ibete is a periodic rise and tell of
the lake levels according to the quan-
tity of ram and snowfall. in the light
of this fact, it may be surmised that
whereas in seasons of heavy rainfall

The question of the Chicago renal
is a very serious one for New York
State and Canada. for Lake Ontario
barbore are already ton shallow. In-
deed Canada would suffer most, for
the lowering of Lake 1St ie and Lake
Ontario would affect the water srpply
of the Welland peuitiawls canals. and
perhaps even the St. Lawrence River.
Showa Canada and the United
States allow one city like Chicago to
carry on an enterprise which may
berm many cities and depreciate the
great North American cowrnereial
route ? The American Government
at one time realized that there was
danger in the diversion of the waters
of Lake Michigan, and r clause was
'ntroduced into the rivet' and hat bor
bill limiting the amount. However,
for Chicago i special benefit, a con-
ference committee of Congress has
seen fit to strike out this clause. Now
the promoters of the canal scheme
merely wait, for consent from Wash-
ington. When this comes they will
continue 'their work of destruction.
Is nothing to be done ?

YOUR KIDNEYS HURT

The -Sale This Year Is of
Eat less meat if you feel Bsokaahy or
have Bladder trouble—Salta
fine for Kidneys.
'!fast forms urie add which excites
and overworks the kidneys in their efforts
to filter it from the system. Regular eat-
en of meat must flush the kidneys occa-
sionally. You must relieve them like yon'
relieve your bowels: removing all the
acids, waste and poison, else you feel a
dull misery in the kidney region, sharp
pains in the back or sick headache, die
ainesoa, your stomach soars, tongue is
coated and when the weather is bad you
Lave twinges. The urine is
cloudy, full of sediment; the channels
often get irritated, obliging you to get
up two or three times during the night.
To neutralise these irritating acids
and flush off the body's urinous waste
get about four ounces of Jad Salto
from any pharmacy: take s table-
spoonful in a glans of water before break -
feat for a few days and your kidneys wiU
then act fine and bladder disorders dis-
appear. This famous salt is made from
the acid of grapes and lemon juice, com-
bined with littaia, and has been used for
generations to clean and stimulate slug-
gish kidneys and atop bladder irritation.
.Tad Salts is inexpensive; harmless and
makes a delightful effervescent lithia-
water drink which millions of men and
women take now and then, thus avoiding
serious kidney and bladder diseases.
