Mr., Macdonald, mother of the late
Corp. Chester E. Macdonald, bas re-
ceived the following letter from
the matron of the hospital at i4ou-
logae,'France, in which her son died
u the result of wounds received at the
front :
11 General Hospital,
Boulogne, July 1S, 1915.
Dear Mn. Macdonald, -1 am so very
sorry to have to tell you that your
son. Corporal C S. Macdonald, passed
away yesterday very quietly in his

and also from your son that he has
been very ill bele in hospital and that
he certainly was not improving. His
general condition became so tad it
was absolutely necessaly to remove

life, though he rallied for a day or so,

was an extremely good and brave
