THIc (iA1tUFY PARTY. -The Leehurn
garden piety. which was held last Fri-
day evening on the lawn of Mr. E. N.
Shaw, was guilt a success. The
weather was ideal. and the number
present, though net perhaps as large
as last year, formed quite an impres-
sive aura pretty picture under the soft
lights Of the Chinese lanterns hung
among the trees. The Ktrd Regiment
band was present and their red coats
added to the brightness and hat moony
of the'scene. The four supper tables
were well occupied for the first two
hours or so. the supply of edibles tot-
ing
-
iog quite equal to the need. and aftrr-
wmrds the ice cream end candy booths
were kept bury. The miscellaneous
booth, too, was well patronized. The
handstand was tastefully draped with
bunting in the national colon and
natural ferde. The band d s:oursed
sweet ususic Eluting the evening, both
grave and gay. - 1f tbe party had not
been put off on account of the ex-
tremely wet weather of \Vedneeday,
no doubt tbe crowd would have been
larger, but the net results were very
fair, considering the vett' depressing
state of affairs, which must he felt
more or lee in all patriotic heart• to-

money will le used to renovate the in-
side of Leeburn church and help fix

marry Edwin Drood. Jasper spun
Neville to quarrel with Drood, and
