for Eighty -Sewn Hours without
Losing His Nerve -Chester Mac-

reeved the following letter from .Jr.
Chester 8. Seodooald.' of the Royal
Canadian Dragoons, now in artties POP f•

but conditions are not the best for

Early lett Monday morning one of
our battalions had occasion to charge
and take a Berman trench. A number
of wounded fell between the trenches.
A portion of thaground was exposed
to the Hun wipers. One of the lads

stretcher bearers were wiped when

The program for the Dominion Day
celebration in (ioderich has been put
io shape, and the details are published
in The /Signal's advertisiug columns
this week, un page 5.
A number of guod prize are offend
in Connection with tt•a morning par-
ade, sod it is hoped there will be •
large number of Hosts and decorated
turnouts. The merchants and maou-
lectureta are particularly requested to
take au interest in getting up floats to
represent them in the trades proces-
sion. Decorsted carriages and auto-
mobiles are expected to enter in the
floral parade.
The baby show will again be a feat-
ure of the morning's proceedings.
Reeve Elliott and Councillor. Rorer
and Wilson will award the prizes
The boys and girls will h.ve just
two weeks more to get their muscles
in training for the gamer to take place
on the 8yuate atter the procession is
over in the woruing.
The afternoon progl am will be car-
ried out at Agrieulturel Park. School
children in procession, whether from
country schools or Isom the town
school., will be admitted free. There
will be a series of athletic contests, a
football match between local teams, a
!AXIOM', match between the Victoria
school And Central school teams, and
p•esibly a heaeball match. A five -mile
motorcycle race will be • stirring
event. The hoeing ztontest in herrels

will be repeated. and there wish be an
exhibition of Highland dancing with
pipe accompaniment. A set ies of
speed tests will be the big attraction
for those who like to see the horses go.
The 33rd Regiment band will furnish

Gibson and Sheriff Reynolds, of Gude-

the Society, and Sheriff Reynolds
treasurer : also that a military field
kitchen be purchased with the money
collected by the ladies from the sev-
ere! municipalities, and the same b
prera•nted to the 33rd Battalion, now
at London. in -omtuand of Lt. -Col.
Wilaoo, ot Seaforth ; also, if the tondo
allow it, to include a field kitchen for
the oMeere, sante to be purchased
from McCL►ry A Co.. of London, it
price and equipment prove satisfac-
tory.

We arrived at Detour, the mouth of
the St. Mary's River. the next morn-
ing at 10.91. There we took on thirty
loos of coal in about fifteen minute.,
and arrived in Sault Ste. Marie shout

kindness from the time I left God. -

ingbam, presided. and after lunch had
been satisfactorily disposed of a series

of brief, bright speeches were given.
