A deputation composed of Dr. A. J.
Irwin, of Wingham, Mr. J. A. Irwin
and Lr. W. C Thompson, of Clinton,
waited ur.on the Provincial license
board at Toronto on Friday last and
asked that the hoard assist in the en-
forcement of the C'anads Temperance
Act in this county by the appoint.

force was not satisfactory. The depu-
tation urged [bat the inspectors be
paid enough to enable them to devote
their whole time to the woe k. Chair-

faith in the Canada Temperance Act

forcement, but the hoard would do
everything in its power to hare the
law enforced.
County Court,
County Court opened here on Tues-
day witb His Honor Judge Doyle pre-
siding. There weir four caws on the
docket, only one of which came up for
trial, the others being postponed.
The cede of Johnston vs Johnston was
an action in which 1Vnl. Johnston of
Blyth sued T. (;, Johnston .f Dela-
ware for $500 as commission on the
sale of farms in Hullett and East Wa-
wanosh. The defence was that the
defendant had merely •old his own

plications were made for neutraliza-
tion pipers by A igust Guhr. of Sea -
forth ; Max Panz-r, of Godet ich, and

North Huron Conservat,vs.
The annual meeting of North Huron
Cuneervativtes was held at Winghaat
on 'r,iesdey. A. H Musgrove, M. P. P.,
and James flownian, M. P , delivered
addresses and officers were elected for
both Provincial and Donsioion Associ-
ations. It was decided to leave the
nomination of a candidate for the
Commons until after the prospective
session of Parliament. Reselutione
expressing confidence in Sir Hobert
B,rden and Premier Hearst were
adopted.
Mr. Musgrove in his address took
exception to statements made et Tor-
onto a few days ago by wewhers of a
temperance delegation from Huron, to
the effect that the Canada Temperance
Act is not heiog enforced in Huron.
"So far as \Viogbam is concerned the
statements are not true," said Mr.
Musgrove, "The Scott Act can be. r
and so far bis worked out well in this I
riding. From • number of the dele-
gates bete today 1 find that the law is
being enforced."
