DIFFICULTIES IN THE WAY OF
SOLDIERS' VOTES.
Electioneering to the Face of Death
Would Be a Ghastly Mockery -
Wording on the Ballot Paper May
Be Misleading - Election Should
Be Postponed Until the Soldiers
Come Back.
Ottawa, May 3lst,-Even the Ma-
chine politicians in the Con.ervti.e
party are congratulating theaselvew
on two things -that there was no
general election ton when the Roblin
Government blew up, and that the
votes for the soldiers were not *hoard
the Lusitamia when fhe liner went
down.
One would hove been an error in
tactics,, the other an error in good
taste. Both would have been blunder.,
and a blunder is worse than a crime,
as 1alleyrand shrewdly remarked. To
hove shipped the votes for soldiers by
the Lusitania would bare been a par-
ticularly gross Wunder,. nut m touch
because the votes would here mien lost

a poor one in practice, because it
