A.IL NM A hLifiresia PROUDFOOT ELECTED (OVER ONE ,HONORED INCREASE IN LIBERAL MAJORITY Attempted Bribery and False Letters did not Succeed in Accomplishing Their Designs -Musgrove Again Elected in North Huron and Eltber Retains South Huron The genera elections it Ontario were held on Monday last and result- ed in the reliant of the Whitney government with a majority eiruilar to the sue they had before the appeal to the pro -wince. The genets' Jesuit will be found on page three. Mr. W. Proudfoot, K.0 , was 85Ain the winter in Centre Huron ; tbutime by an increased majority. His nut jorily in 1911 was 216 and on Monday it was 310. Every attempt was made to 'hove 31r. Proudfoot out of Centre Huron and the legislature. lhrrinK the last session of the legislature the gerrymander route was tried hut (ailed. The contest just closed die covered that money was being used, and used freely. All evil designs failed and Mr. Proudtoot is noes more the honored repre.e ative of Centre Huron. The town of Godeticb in the 1911 contest gave a Conservative ma ority of 37 and on Monde this majority was traduced to 14. The Conservative majority in Clinton in 1911 was 56 and on Monday it was21. Reaforth gave *Liberal majority of 12 in 1911 and this tirue it Rues Conservative by seven. The Liberal majority in Brus- sels was increased trove 15 to 31, and the Liberal majority in McKillop re- duced from 68 to 58. The good old townships of Grey and Holten in- creased their Liberal majorities, the former from 134 to 147 and the latter from lel to 153. Colborne Rave a Con- servative majority of 27, while in 1911 it gave • Liberal majority of 14. This sudden change of front can amity be accounted for. Below will be foetid the cnniplete returns for Monday'selection in Cen- tre Huron and those of the previous general elections. The complete re- turns for North Huron and South Huron are not yet to hand but we give the majorities a. far as they are known to be correct. Mr. A. H. Musgrove is again elected in North Huron but his dormer majority is con- siderably reduced. Mr. Harry Either, who is now becoming a veteran in South Huron politics. is again return- ed by an increased majority. The elections on Monday showed many changes and surprises through- out the province. Among the fallen is Icon. Dr, Reaume, minister of pub- lic works it the Whitney cshioet. He was badly beaten by Rev. J. C. Tohnie, pastor of * large Presbyter- tiat church in Windsor. Such stal- wart Liberal tighten as Mr. R. J. Mc. Cormick. of East Lambton ; Col. T. R. Mayberryy, of South Oxford : Dr. James McQueen, of North Went- worth ; Mr. W. E. •N. Sinclair, of South Ontario, and Mr. J. 0. Ander- son, who was gn•tymand, red out of South Bruce and contested North Hur- on, will be missed from the legislature. The majorities against them were small. CENTRE tfuRnN IN 1014.
