Without doubt the hent football
game of the season VAS witnessed at
Virtoria park ground.. on Tuesday
evening when the Y.M.c,C.A. had -a bit-
ter conflict with the Big Mill aggrega-

the g tine whish was perhaps due to
the hood work of the defence of both
teams. The majority of the play was
on centre field although the line WAV -

Thai e were few collisions, however,
and '.o knock outs.
A few errors were apparent but ct n
sidering all things it was a real good
exhibit of assnciation football.

CELEBRATEIS HiS BIRTHDAY
Mr. Joseph Kidd was 5a Years Old on

Tuesday last was the 5204.1 birthday
of Mr. Joseph Kidd and in consequence
all the country seemed to want to con-
gratulate him so well ie he known in
Goderich and vicinity. %Vben, a Sig-
nal wen called upon Joe the railway
wan was smiling with a countenance
which did his heart good. In fact
since the 'reporter has known Joe , be
has always been smiling. It seemed
to the reporter when he saw Mr. Kidd
that he was like one o1 those' jewels
which are pleasant to I,o,k up w be-
cause they always wear happy fates.
The reporter remarked that it was a
itrange coincidence that the Home
Rule bill should peas on the 52nd snni-
versat y of Mt. Kidd's, bit tis. Soiling
again with a powerful radiance he
said. that he was want/ to organize a
party which would go over-tu, the Old

nected with the opening til the Irish
parl iawen t.
Asked how lie spent hie t.irthbay

that he spent the greater part of the
morning answering telephone calls of
congratulation from different parts nf.
the county. -Then,” he said, "f was
