Some Straight Language at Investigation
of West Shore Railway -Air of Injured in-
nocence Does Not Deceive the Board Some
Interesting Developments.
The affairs of the Ontario West
Shore Rrilway rami under the probe
of the Ontario Railway Hoard again
last Meek, after • delay of several
weeks.
At the first sitting. an Tuesday, Mr.
James R. Rtaf. banister, stated that,
acting under the in.tructioos of Mr.
.toyer. be procured the cbarter for
the Huron Construction Company in
which three were four duautt y" deree-
torr. It was this consarnctinn com-
pany which took over the building of
the railway. which wort was never
completed. Tbe chatter of the cum.
pony is also among the missing papers
and to this 11r. goat ridded the infor-
mation that he had never yet been
paid for some of the work he did for
the cowpuany.
Mi. Roof also informed the Board
t hat he was tint consulted by Nr. Acton
Patterson, who *aid he bad been »eked
to advance money towards a railroad
construction. Subwquently .lir. Root
saw Mr. Moyes and Mr. Mnu.ke, thePo-
licito. for the Railway. and was In-
etructed to 1 r.ke out e. charter to form
the Huron Conetuction Commas.

foot where the hulk of the bonds had
gone. Against this connect produced
a statement made by Mr. Moyes to the
Dominion Bank in which he had said
he was the sole owner of the Hu
Construction Company. Mr. Mo

The directors held a meeting shortly
after obtaining tbe charter. and a bv•
law was tasted which permitted the
construction company to buy- the con-
tract f, r the building of the Weat
Shore Rail VItry. The sale price was to
b•r 810,155', but as to who held the
cotrtract prior to that tine witness
could not be sure.
After this arrangement. Mr. Roaf s
active connection with the Huron
Construction Company ceased. As to
what weenie of this charter and the
other missing peters. witness was
uncertain. He knew they had been
giver[ to somebody present at the
directors' meeting. poesibly Mr. Smoke
or Mr. Moes. het be would not pos-
itively haute either as the recipient.
One of the 'lite, -tors was Thomas E.
McCracken. student -at -law, who in-
formed Mr. Pruudfoot he had sub-
scribed for one/throe, but without any -
intention ot ever prying the subscrip-
tion. He was merely one of the five
