Premier Asquith, in a notable
speech to his constituents at Lady -
beak. Re -001M, on Saturday, dealt ea -
elusively with the question of home
rule, and empLastsed the fact that the
Government intended to 'sake use of

to give Liberal legislation something
approaching an equal chance with
their opponents.
The Parliament act referred to pro-

price all waste, derelict grad neglected
tracts of land and to plant them with
forests. and to reclaim and drain the
springs on sucb lands with a view
to their cuittiatlon to the full limit
of their possibilities. if men wanted
sport, said the Chancellor, it must

Judge Howey at Vancouver passed
sentence on more than two score
Nanaimo rioters. The maximum sen-
tence was two years. Three men and
two boys were sentenced to serve
two years in the penitentiary, twenty•
three were given imprisonment for
