A SPR1N(. LAY.—Gardening and
bousecleening are all the go now. In
consequence the poor man can see
notbiee but work ahead of hire. The
small boy is threshing the creek these
days, with varied luck in the rusher
of catching fish—but_ what do they
care wLether they catch fish or not, if
they can only get away from school
for a half-day they are well repaid.
However, there seem to be more good-
sited/Ash in the creek this spring than
usual. •

years at Exeter.

ably have lust bis life.
William McAllister. of Walton, died

daughter near Galt• where be had
been visiting for a few weeks. De-
ceased wet seventy-seven years of age
and was a native of New York State.
He is survivedby his wife. one son,

On Saturday, 19th ult., the death
orcurred of George Henry Hudson, at
his home in Egmondvilla, the result of
an attace of typhoid fever. The
aeceased was forty-one years offage.
He was • native of the township of
Tuckersmitb, but bad been engineer
for tbe Bell Engine Co. at Seaforth
for many years. He is survived by
his wife and two young daughters.

One of the -pioneer residents of Sea -
forth died on Friday. Nth ult... in the
person of Mr-.. John Winter, at the
age of eighty-four years. Mrs. Winter
was a native of Scotland and came to
Canada with her husband, Robert
Thompson, over six y rears ago.
After Mr. Thomttaon's death she was
married to John liVinter. who also pte-
deceased her. Sbe leaves two sons
end two daughters, ell residing in
Seaforth.
Mrs. Matgraret Depew passed away
at the home of her daughter. Mrs.
William Doherty. Clinton. on Friday.
11th ult., et the advanced age of
eighty-eight years. The deceased was
the daughter of the late James Mur-
ray, M. A.. who was prominently
identified with Ridley College. St.
Catharines. and she herself was a
teacher in that institution before her
marriage. Mrs. Deprw lived at
\Vatdsville for many year+, coming to
Clinton three years ago to live with
her daughter.
