on Tuesday afte•nloon of last week.
when Thomas Beacom was called
away. His demise cams as a great
shock. as he I&.d been about town on
Tuesday forentien. The de ceased had
resided in Hullett and Stanley town-
ships but had spent the past thirty-
five years in Clinton. Hp took an
active part in municipal affairs and at
the time of hi.; death he was a mem-
ber of Clinton town council. His
widow and one daughter, Mrs. James
Dunford, of Clinton. survive.

has received notice from Ottawa order-

all the right-thinking people of that

Dr. Alex. M.-Kelvey. for the past
thirty years a well-known medical
practitioner at Brussels. died very
suddenly last Maturdap morning.

Seriously Burned.
A serious burning accident occurred
at Ripley a few days ago. Mrs. David
McDonald, who bed been lying at the
Cornmerrial House in a precarious
condition, accidentally upset a coal oil

and the blaze which had spread to the

George Petty. one of the oldest resi-

county in 1161 and settled in the town-
ship of Hay. When the London,
Huron A Bruce Railway was built the
two brother, owned tte farm on which
the village of Hensel) is situated. They
gave the land for the station and the
vilbtge was called after their hirtbpalce
in England. For a number of years
George and .lances Petty conducted
the Yorkbhile Pork Packing business
at Hensall and as a result were well
known throughout Westetu Ontario.

ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Robinson left

Insurance Co. presented the young

The dedkation services of the new
Presbyterian church at 1Valtou on
Sunday. December 22nd, were most
successful. The principal speaker for
the day was Rev. Dr. R. P. McKay, of
