Why should 'Canadian ham and bacon he len or twelve edits dearer here than in England? There is no use in snaking Rhe ex- cuse that Tabor is better pwid 1n Cnrs- ada than in England. The excuse ib bad. because the bacon is produced by Canadian labor. The Englishmen in England pits this cost of production. and also the cost of transportation by rail and ocean. Therefore we ought to get the bacon And ham for a good deal leas than is paid in England, intend rf ten or twelve cents s pound more. Canada is a storebouee of food. pro- ducing more than it can consume, and helping to feed the rest of the wotId. Yet the price of fond iy far higher here than ill England, which does not produce nearly enough food for its own needs. The very hest of our own products are carried past our door. and sold in England foe prices winch would not buy the .cost inferior food in Canada. Why? , • Mn.
