A Stratford Couple.
A pleasent event took place et the

Elisabeth Davis became the bride of
Sydney Mitchell, both of Stratford.

Harbor Notes.
The &teenier Scottish Hero arrived
in port on Tuesday afternoon with a
cargo of 17u,000 bushels of wheat and
oats for the OoderichElevator &Transit
Co. She was drawing 19 feet 2 inches of

The Mesmer Msstord came in -port
on Wdoesday morning with a mows
of 107,0Ut1 bushels of wheat for the Big
Mill.
The steamer Wexford is expected
to arrive in port on Thutsday with a
cargo for the Goderich elevator.
The Oodericb elevator is at present
blocked and over 500 cars are needed
to relieve the situation.
Capt. Roy McDonald bas taken
charge of the tug Caledonia for .tbe
remainder of the season. He succeeds
Capt. Cohn Murray.
The amount of grain handled by the
Goderich Elevator & '1Yaesit Co. since
bks opening of navigation amounts to
nearly 4,000,090 bushels. This is an
advance on last year up to this time
of nearly a million bushels.

The bride was given away by her only
brother, Charles Sylvester, and was

groomsman. The wedding wareh
was played by the bridegroom's sister,
Miss Reta Odium. The bones was
prettily decorated with chrysanthe-
mums ..midst autumn foliage. Many
beautiful gifts were received. After
the reception Mr. and Mrs. Odium left

The "needle festival" of the Baptist
church ladies will be beld an Tuesday,
December 3rd.
The first snow of the season came
last. Friday night, end there were
several hurries on Saturday. By
Tuesdey, however. it was all gone.
There ie supposed to be a strike on
among the C. P. R. employees, but
it does not appear to affect the Gode-
rich staff, as everybody 1e working.
Veber 3, gives a lengthy account of
the funeral of the late Henry Yeo. J.
P.. of that city. The deceased was an
uncle of Mrs. A. A. Williams, of Dun-
lop, and ('bas. Spence, of town. The
account reads as follows:
At half -past two this afternoon,
amid widespread tokens of sympathy
end respect, the mortal remains of Mr.
Henry Yeo, J. P.. late ao alderman
of
tbe city of Exeter, were borne into
St. David's church and subsequently
laid to rest in a grave at the north
side of the edifice. Both at the service
in the church and at the graveside
there were a large number of repre-
sentatives of the municipal lite of the
city, its magisterial bench and its
public bodies, and the ceremony
throughout was of an impressive char-
acter.
The cortege, tvbicb left "Fairpark,"
Magdalen road, the residence of de-
craued, ball an hour before the service,
was met at the gates .of the church by
Rev. C. J. Vaipy French, vicar ot St..
David'ih who conducted the obsequies.

Fourth carriage. --Mr. Hooker (con-
fidential clerk), Mr. Lowther (junior
clerk), Miss Browning (telegraphist).
Mr. .1. F. Pion presided at the or-
gan. The coffin was of unpolished
oak, surmounted by a large crow, at
tbe foot of which was a break plate
bearing the inscription : "Henry Yeo.
J. P., diel September 30tb, 1912, aged
uixt -five years.' The Lord is my Shep-
herd."
Then follow loug lists of those pres-
ent and the floral tributes, the de-
oresed evidently having had a very
wide circle of friende.
Public School Board.
The regular meeting of the public
school board was bold on Monday
evening at Victoria school. Those
present were Trustees H. E. Hodgen.
(chairman), A. D. Mclean. A. Saun-
ders, R. J. Acheson and G. I.. Parsons.
The secretary's repot to for. September
and Ootober .bowed amount expended
this year to date to be $9,32L4.. The
�1tlocipals' reports for September and
October also were received. The num-
ber of pupils enrolled st Victoria
school at the end of Octuber was 1382
(186 boys and 197 girls): at Central
school 217 (104 boys and 103 girls). H.
R. Long, principal of Victoria school,
was appointed to the public library

Tit;ert, the late principal The secre-
tary was instructed to write to Mr.
Harper advising that the hose sup-

tural, was the scene of a very pretty
wedding Wednesday morning. October
30, when Miss Elizabeth Bethune Mc-
Dougald, only daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. A. W. McDougald, Roeemount
arenue, was married to Philip Grattan
Kiely. formerly of Goderich, eldest
son of Mrs. Thomas Long, of Toronto.
and nephew of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph
Kidd. Goderich. The church was
effectively decorated with white
chrysanthemums and palms. Rev.
Father Gagner, 8. J.. rector of Loyola
College, performed the ceremony. The
bride was given away by her father
and attended by ber cousin, Miss
Grace McMartin, of Cornwall, as maid
of honor, and Miss Rita McMartin as
flower girl. The beet man was Wil-
frid (Commotlere) Williams, and the
ushers Lieut. Charles Bethune Lind-
say, Q. O. R., and John Kiely, both
of Toronto. The bride wore a lovely
gown of ivory. Duchess satin em-
broidered in pearls and draped with
old Limerick lace, an heirloom, the
gift of her gi andm ether. Her tulle
veil fell from a coronet of orange
blossoms and she carried a shower
bouquet of white orchids and lilies of
the valley. Her only ornament was
a platinum bar pin set with dismoods,
the gift of the brideer-oom. The maid
of honor and little flower girl were
gowned alike in yellow satin veiled
with chiffon and their hate were of
black tulle with yellow roses. Each
wore a bar pin set with pearls, the
gitt of the bridegroom, and carried
yellow cbrysirnthemums and orchid*.
The best man and timbers received
sapphire tiepins. Following the twe-
stony a reception was bold at the
borne of the bride's parents, 64 Rom -
mount avenue. where the' dsnonitions
were prettily carried out with yellow
chrysanthemums and orchids. Mr.

Eogineer Middlemlee, of the staff
of the Ontario Railway and Municipal
Board, is here this week gathering
material for a report on the Ontario
West Shore Railway. '
The committee in charge of the
Hurw county exhibit at the Provincial
horticultural show are busy this week
getting it in shape. The exhibition is
to be held at Toronto next week.
Collector Campbell has ;received
about $35,900 of this vetu'e taxes to
date. This is a good showing. A dis-
count of two per cent. is allowed until
the 15th inst.. and after that date
amounts will be payable at par.

John Saltows, who was worting with
Messrs. Davie and Nairn on their big
farm in Alberta, ar$•ived home last
night with one arm broker and the
other sprained, t he result of an acci-
dent on the farm. Robert Foley, who I
was another employee on the farm,
came home with him. Messrs. Nairn
and Davis may not be home for a
month yet.
Thos. Warrener, Hamilton street,
has on exhibit several stalks uf rasp-
berries bearing this year's second
growth. The berries were grown in
the Schultz garden. Saltford. One
evening Mee. Schultz picked enough
berries for the supper. This is one of
several such case8 noted in this
peculiar season. Mrs. Grumwett has
had a large crop of raspberries Ibis
tall.

death of Dr. J. T. Duncan, a well-
known medical practitioner of that
