to the floor and died almost immedi-
ately.

eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hutt.
Black, Wroxeter, was married at the
home of her parents to Harry Little.

escape from a serious accident a few

Mrs. Julius Bloch died very sud-
denly at Zurich on the 24th ult. - She
was not feeling very well in the mora-
ine and suddenly collepeted and fell in-
to the arena of her daughter, Mrs.
William Walper, who happened t•) be
in the house with her. The deceased
was in the fourty-fourth year of her
age.
Ja.. Scott, for many year'. a resi-
dent of Culross, died in Wioghatn
hospital on the 26th ult. after a brief
illness. The deceased was sixty years
of age and for some time had been
tnekiog bis home with Robt. Mont-
gomery in Taroherry. His wife died
a dew years ago and he is survived by
a grown-up family of sons and daugh-
ters.
At the home of Mrs. Jas. Ritchie,
Wrozeter, on Saturday. 26th ult., her
youngest daughter, Miss Bessie Barrie,
was united in marriage to Fratk Kan -
demon. of Toronto,oungest son of
Mrs Sanderson and the late Johnl
Sanderson, a former postmaster of
Wroxeter. The ceremony was per-
formed by Rev. Mr. Wesley. pastor of
the Presbyterian church. Mr. and
Mrs. Saader•on will make their home
in Tornow.
Mies' Annie Slavin. a former resi-
dent of Exeter. was accidentaily kilted
while working in the Tecumseh
House at London, where she had been
employed for a number of year's. In
taking some clothing from a wardrobe
sbe apart it upon ber, causing a frac-
ture of the skull. She died In a few
tnlnutea. The remains were brought
to Hensen and the funeral took place
from the residense of a brother who
lives near that place.
The news has been received of the
death at Wapella, flask.. of Mrs.
Chao -Itis Kydd, formerly of Usbnrne
township, which occurred on the 21st
ult. Mrs. Kydd was sixty-three years
of age. A dew days before her death
she had been operated on for appen-
dicitis. Was. Westoott, cif Unborn,
ie a brother of the deceased.
The home of Mr. and Mrs. John
Kerr. Wingbam. was the some Of a
prett wedding on the morning of
Tuwnksglring Day. when their eldest
daughter. Lilian U.. was nnited in the
bonds of matrimony to Benson Cruick-
shank, of Turnberry. The marriage
ceremony was conducted by Rev. Dr.
Rutledge. in the presesoe of a large

Postmaster Gibson Dead.
Thomas Gibson, postmaster at Ford-
e.ich for the past ten year., died at
his home there last Friday evening,
aged seventy-one years. He was a
Feni. Raid veteran and a prominent
Mason. Besides his wife, be leaven
three sons and five daughters.
Sudden Death at Brussel& ;1
in Wed'nesdey morning. 80th ult.,
Envies ('rich, a well-known resident of
Bruseeds, was stricken with apoplexy
while on his rounds as a cream -t ath
erer for the Brussels factory. He died
the came evening. Deceased formerly
lived lo 'rocket -smith, and was in his
fifty -612th year. He leaves a widow,
and a son and a daughter by a pre
vious wife.
Fire at Wingham.
The Exchange hotel at \Winghaln
was badly damaged by fire on Tues-
day night of last week. The fire
,tatted at one of the chimneys, but
was dis.;oveted before it had made
much headway. The loss to Mr. Lep-
pard will be fully 11J.tl11o, as neatly all
of the interior of the house will need
to be repaired. The hens is partly
covered by insurance..
A Foolish Scare.
There was a scare at Exeter • few
days ago caused by a rumor that the
Canadian Batik of Commerce was in a
shaky condition. Well-informed bulli-
nets men laughed at the rumor, of
course. as the Bank of Comauerce is
Doe of the most solid institutions in
the country. but some ot the deposi-
tore wet inclined to withdraw their
money. The +care was soon over.
Accident to D. Mciato•h, V. S.
David McIntosh, V. 8.. of 'Bruce -
field, met with a serious mishap a few
days ego. He was di iviog and on
turning a cot -her was thrown out and
bis brad st cork a stone or some hard
object, snaking a terrible gash -in his
bead. He was els:, shaken up badly
and his side was injured. Medical as-
eu,ten et. was obtained at once and it is
hoped the Doctor will soon be about
again.
Arm Nearly Severed.
Robert Kydd, 01 the 4th coocessitru
of Usbnrne, suffered a severe accident
one day latets wMch nearly const him
itis lett arm. Together with several
other men he was cutting wood with
a circular saw w•betr the saw iat the
rack and struck Mr. Kydd in tbe left
arm, about four inches below the
shoulder. The saw out right through
the flesh and bone, leaving but a
small portion of flesh bolding the arm
together.. Coctoys were sutumoued
and the arm was set, and it is hoped
that it will be saved and be almost as
useful as ever.
Death at Wingham.
After an illness extending over six
months, the death occurred in the
Wingbam hospital on Friday last of
George Autry. Deceased was born in
Fordingham, Dorchester, England,
and came to Wingham in May of this
year.' He was then in excellent
health, but after working for some
time at the oew Western Foundry,
and later with the Grand Trunk, be
was taken ill with cancer of the stom-
ach. Besides his wife be leaves one
little daughter. His father, three
brothers and one sister reside in Eng-
land. The funeral, which was held
Saturday afternoon to Wingbam
cemetery, wa'. conduc!,ed by - Rev. E.
H. Croly, of the Anglican church.
Death of Archibald Somerville.
Surprise and deep regret were felt in
i4eaforth when the news was spread of
the death of Archibald D. Somerville,
which occurred at his borne in that
town on Thursday, October 24. Mr.
Somerville had not been in
good
health for some time, but was active
and going about until a few days be-
fore his death. Last spring he dis-
pored of his fine farm in McKillop and
moved to Sesaforth, having purrbaaed
a comfortable residence there. He
and Mrs. Somerville spent moat of the
summer with a son and other friends
in Saskatchewan and returned only a
few weekm ago. Mr. Somerville was
born sixty-one year% ago in McKillop
and was highly respected In the town-
ship. He leaves bis widow, two sons
end two daughters. The daughters
are at borne, but one son is in Saskat-
chewan and the other at Edmonton.
