This illustration, photographed the next morning, will give you some idea of the havoc caused by the destructive fire of Friday, September 13th. The
picture shows the wreck of Workrooms and Carpet Department. This fire, commencing near the rear of the store in the floor under the Carpet Department.
swept our big upstairs from end to end, destroying three-fourths of the roof apd seriously damaging the stock on this P,cor.
The Millinery stock was completely wiped out. The others, such as Carpets, Mantles, Suits and Furs, were damaged to a very great extent. Tne
downstairs stocks were also damaged, Silks and Dress Goods, the most seriously, but by water only, the fire not reaching anything on this floor.
The Entire Stock Is to Be Sold
After careful consideration we have decided to clear the stock at present in the store, damaged or undamaged. Every article is to be sold immediately.
On Thursday, September 26th, we opened our doors and commenced the greatest
FIRS AND SALVAE SALC
the County of Huron has ever known. The high character of this stock is well known. There is no better anywhere in Western Ontario. The fire coming
just when the bulk of our new Fall stock was in made the loss heavier, but makes your opportunity greater.
When we tell you every article in the store has had its price reduced, even 'though undamaged, and that the fire and water damaged goods are marked
with but one object. and that to sell them in the shortest possible time, you will realize and know that this is
A - SALE - WORTH - COMING - TO
The sale is now in full swing. There are thousands and thousands of dollars' worth to sell, but they must be sold quickly, for two reasons :—
Itt.—We do not want the interruption t8 regular business to be one day longer than is absolutely necessary.
2nd.—We want the carpenters and builders to get at the repairs at once, but before they can we have to reduce the stock and get everything to the
ground floor, as we will have to turn the entire upstairs over to them while the repairs are in progress.
There - Will - Be -Bargains -
Galore
It is impossible for us to print an itemized list of prices this week, as we cannot get them ready in time for the printer. However, just read this list over.
It tells of the various lines that are all going on sale at reduced prices. Of course on some the reductions are greater than others. but there is a price cut
on each and everything.
Corsets, Sweater Coats, Hosiery, cotton and cashmere ; Gloves, Laces and Embroideries, Fat cy Goods, Handkerchiefs, Prints, Ginghams,
Linens, Cotton and all staples, Linoleum, Umbrellas, Dress Goods and Suiting, of all kinds, Black and Colored Silks, Dress Trimmings and Lin-
ings. Ladies' and Children's Dresses, Ladies' and Children's Coats, Ladies' Suits, Ladies' Skirts, Furs.
We will not offer for sale any Furs damaged in any manner that will affect the wear in any way. Many of the Silks and Dress Goods were badly water -
soaked. These will be cleared at ridiculously 10.7 prices. The rest of the stock was slightly damaged by water only and was not hurt the least by ftre.
Every article positively reduced in price for this Great Fire and Salvage Sale. Don't miss it. It means
the saving of dollars and dollars on your Fall and Winter purchases.
TERMS STRICTLY CASH No goods on approval and none returnable when the sale is on.
