It is stated that within a very short time the whole available power of Niagara will be drawn upon by the de - mends from the southern oortion tet the Province, so that Bruce county. where as yet no routescts have been entered into, will likely never be served with cheap power front the Falls. This should not be a misfortune to our county, however. as there are power resources within our own borders suffi- cient to furnish the elec'rical current required by both manufacturing and farming interests, even in the event of the dazzling hydro outlook above re- ferred to becoming a reality. The Bruce county council might do a good deal towards repopulating the town- ships should they set to work upon a scheme for the development of the extensive water power on the Saugeen and Teeswater Riven and distribution thereof at a low rate of interest. and it only remains for our municipal bodies to take advantage of the terms. We verily believe that the power question, as it looms up today, is one that should be takes hold of and actively promoted by the county council of Bruce. The Hydro -Electric Commission of Ontario does not own tbe water rights which supply the electricity. it owns only the transmission lines. and the power itt nought from a .yodieate that wants • big profit. This is the one and only objection to the Hydro -Electric .hetnr. Bence county, by going into the elrstrial energy businssv on the ground floor, owning both power dame and tranemi.Wdon lines, would he in a position to sepply the power cheaply. —Paisley Advocate.
