Death of Rev. W. S. Jamieson.
Woe,' was received in town today of
the sudden death at Palmerston on
Wednesday of Rev. Walter S. Jamie-
son, a prominent minister of the
Methodist rhumb, and for ..venal
yens a resident of Goderich. Death
was sudden, being aimed by kidney
trouble and heart disease. Mr. Jamie-
son was born in Peterboro' about
fifty t years ago, moving with
his mother to Goderich in early man-
hood. He attended the high school
here for several yeas and completed
his education at WOW College,
Montreal. He taught school for
five years and spent most of his
y term in Huron county.

A Goderich Family Bereaved.

Mr. and Mrs. George Bisset of the
death by drowning of tbeir daughter
Clara, Mrs. Albert Johnston, near
Edmonton, Alta, The sad event took
Eisaon Sunday. Full
ve not been received, but it ppehwnm
that Robe. Bisset and Mie HeiM Bir
get also were drowned. As there are
two Robert Bisset*, father and no, it
is not certain which one of theta was
the victim. Mrs. Jotnaton was mar-
ried noly in Marek) last. Mach sym-
pathy ie felt with the relatives here
and with the bereaved husband.
Death of Michael Cray.
An old resident of Goderteb, Michael
Orme, diel! on Tuesday morning at
Buffalo. where he was on a visit to his
son John C. Cray. The deceased was
in his ninetieth year and his death
was due to old age. Since leaving
Godeticb be had been living the kat
eigbt years with him son. M. F. Orsv.
at Guelph but about a montb ago be
went to Buffalo to visit his son tbere
and he was taken ill a week after he
arrived there. Mr. Cray was born in
Tipperary county, Ireland, and came
out to Canada in the year 1849. He
was married In 1863, bis wife prede-
ceasing him a little over eight years
ago. He is survived by five children :
John C.of BefLaln ; M. F. and Thom"
of Guelp,h : Mrs. McBride and Mrs. P.
M. Davis. of Buffalo. The funeral
took place at Guelph this morning.

While driving to Auburn on Sunday
Ed. Volmaohauser, accompanied by
bin wife and two children and Nelson
Armstrong, met with • rather thrilling
experience. The bridge crossing the
river at Auburn having been carred
away in the spring freshet, they were
forced to drive over the river bed.
Getting off tee regular track. the
swift current carried rig and oc-
eupanta down stream, where it was
caught by a wire fence. Here the
shafts were broken and the bores
got away. The Darty were forced
to waik ashore in several feet of
water. If it had not been for the
fence tbey would have been carried
over the dam.

At both morning and evening service
last Sunday the congregation of North
street Methodist church were favored
with solos by Mrs. Merrill, of Win-
nipeg. Those wbo remembered the
singer as Miss Whitney, who formerly
was* member of North street clime
and a favorite soloist of Godericb,
.were especially delighted to hear her
