Goderi. i. istrict was held in North
street chuicb, (oderich, on Wednes-
day, Miiv l.t. The morning erosion
opened portly after 10.3d, with Mrs.
Leech, of Goderich, the district organ-
iser, In the chair. After the usual
devotional exerciser, the responsive
readings were rani. Then foltlowed
the reading of the minutes of last
year's convention. which were ap-
proved. After the question drawer
had been introduced, reports were
received from the different auxiliaries
of the district. These were of an in-
teresting and profitable nature.
Mire. Leech announced that Mies
Wellwgod, the returned missionary.
who w expected to be present at the
waves e. bad to cancel the engage-
ment. but another returned mbeiun-
arv. Miss Vireo, bad consented to

Mrs. (Rev.) Oilmen., of Ilolnenville,
conducted • short consecration rer-
vice. in which several of the delegates
took part. Mrs. Leech clooed the
mesion with prayer.
The afternoon session opened at 2
o'clock, with Mrs. Leech attain in the
chair. Atter the opening devotional
exercises, a Bible reading was given
by Rev. Mr. Ford, Clinton. after
which Mies Virgo, returned mission-
ary from China. was introduced to the
convention. Greetings to the enwven-
tioe sent from Exeter di.trict conven-

A few report* from auxiliaries that
wets not represented in the morning
were now read. and all the ropotts
were adopted. A very hearty address
of welcome W the delegates was given
by Mrs. (Colborne, and replied to by
Il re, t)urtow, of Nile.
Miss King favord the convention
with a solo, which abe sang very
sweetly, after weicb the nomination
of district organiser took place. Mrs.
Loeb was unanimously elected for
another year.
A very interesting and instructive
paper was read by Mrs. (Rev.) Barker,
of Ssaforth, on "Che Cause We Love."
Kind greetings were tendered the
convention from Knox church and the
W. C. T. U. and were replied to Mrs.
(Rev.) Medd.
An excellent paper on "The White
Slave Tragic" was read by Mrs.Rev.)
Fear, Blyth, after which Miss Virgo
gave an interesting ttlk on some of
the work in China, giving the ladies a
chance to ask any questions they
desired.

offering was taken and the meetiog
closed with the (*otology.
The evening session opened at 7:9u.
Mr. King, organist of North street
church, kindly gave an organ recital
until $ o'clock, which was very much
appreciated and enjoyed by those
present. At ft o'clock, Rev. A. Brown.
pastor of North street church. took
the chair and opened the service.
After singing a hymn, Mr. Brown
caped on Rev. 1. H trtlett to lead in
prayer. The choir then rendered an
excellent anthem. "Tell It Out Among
the Heathen That the Lord Is King."
After a short address by the chair-
man, Miss Virgo as called on. She
first read a letter received from Miss
Olive Turner, a former Ooderich girl,
who is now a missionary in China,
which was full of interest and inform-
ation regarding the work in China.
Mile Virgo then gave some interesting
information about her own work in
Chinn.
Miss McClinton sang a .010, "Lead,

The thanks of the convention were
given to the choir and to the ladies of
the church who had so ably provided
for the entertainment of the delegates
in their homes.
After the offering was taken, the
convention was closed with the bene-
diction.

the varnish in perfect condition.
Another feature of the demonstra-
tion wan the serving of very eatable
biscuits and Quality Store Moca Java
coffee. These biscuits were baked on
a Detroit gasoline vapor stove. Mr.
Kuhn, the demonstrator of these
stoves, thoroughly oonvinced all that
gasoline is the proper thing for the
summer stove when controlled in a
Detroit vapor stove. His firm backs
him up in the statement be made rev.
oral times that they would give $50 to
anyone that could explode their stove.
He lighted the live gasoline in the
tank, and showed what s saving it is in
having the fire close up to the work,
end having no wicks or,extra expense
on the stove to keep it in working or-
der. Several of these staves have been
in use for years about town, and by
the way sales were made at the dem-
onstration and since by the Howell
Hardware Co. a great many more peo-
ple will have them before the season is
over.
in all the Howell Hardware Co. re-
port this combioed demonstratien was
a great success, and their only regret
is that many more did not know about
it, as it seems that many did not hear
of it in time.
