week met with an accident which
nearly cost him his life. He was
working in the woods on his fat•tn at
the time. A tree which be had cut
down lodged in another tree and, axe
in hand, he climbed up, s distance of
eigbt or ten feet. to remove the ob-
struction. Unexpectedly the limb on
which be was standing gave way be-
neath him, and he fell to the ground,

inflicting a terrible wound. With

arrival there the doctor was not at

death of Mts. John Boy(' took place in
Chicago on Thursday, February 29th.
Mrs. Boyd's home was in this village,
and it was while on a visit to her
daughter in that city that her demise
o.xurred. The deceased's maiden

she was born in Scotland seventy-
three years ago. When quite young
she came with her perenrs to Canada
and her early raze in this country
were spent at Kintail. While living
there site was married to John Boyd,
who predeceased her newly bur

for twenty-four years, finally remov-
ing from their farm t o Goderich and
then to Lucknow. A family of two
sons and four daughters are Left to
mourn ber departure. They are
Albert and Annie, of Luckeow; Dun-
can, Mra. McGill and Miss Sadie, all of
Chicago. and Mrs. Nichol, of Fort
