The first game in the town hockey
league was played on West street rink
on Wednesday evening. The Dread-
noughts and the G. C. I. were the
opposing teams and the result was a
win fur the dreadnoughts by the
score of 5-2. The students excelled in
combination play, but their oppooente
had wine good individual players who
were successful in tallying in their fre-
quent rushes. E. L. Dean was the
referee.
The next gamee will be played ou
Friday evening, when the Iroquois

Mitchell for the first time this season
last Friday evening. In spite of the
final beim•, 10-4 against thein. Mitchell
Waled a splendid game throughout.

was the referee.
St•dforth lost to Clinton on their
own ice on Tuesday evening of this
week. The score was 11-7 in favor of
Clinton. The half-time score was 5-2

termediate hockey teams of Goderich
and Clinton battled for supremacy on
the local ice. The game was clean and
fast from start to finieb, but the Gode-
rich boys had a little better luck than
the visitors in scoring. as is indicated

nights at D . R. McKeozie's, the
newcomer and John N. McKenzie
went to Lucknow. Tne first call In
Lucktww was to see old Neil Bain
McKersie who was there during that

ing, the afternoon was spent at borne.

On Friday a visit was paid to Mi.
and Mrs. Kempton's, where dinner

On the 31st, in the morning. Mr. i
McKenzie preacbed in St. Helens
church and in the afternoon in the
church at Lanes.
On New Year's Day he returned to
Goderich, whete he intended to atay'a
full week, visiting old people from the
homeland. As Mr. McKenzie learned
the Gaelic in rhildbood he has not
forgotten may of it.
On Friday, the all, be finished his
calls by paying a visit 0, Father
McRae. which he greatly enjoyed.
Then on Saturday he received a
letter which made it necessary for
him to leave by the 4.50 that evening,
erriving in Chicago at B a.m. Sunday
morning.

The Mitchell septe'te of hockey
pleyers appeared for the first time in
Goderich on Monday of this week.
Although 0113 is the that year that
iiitchell has had a skating rink the
boys from the Perth town made an
exceptionally good showing. even if
they had to take home the small end

7:10 train being very late the game
wets not called until about 9:45 and it
was 11:30 when the game was finished.
