Wm. Patterson has sold his house
and lot in the village to Mr, Krause
and has purchased John Taman's
farm. Mr. Taman has not yet decided
definitely where he will locate.
John Garner, whose two children
were burned to death in their own
home at Fort William last week. was
visiting his sister, Mrs. Lorne Scrim-
geour, fora few days thio week.
Large congregations attended both
the anniversary services at the Metho-
dist church Sunday afternoon and
evening. r..'. W. Conway. of Nile,
preached two able sermons and the

ANNIVERSARY SERVICER. --The Pres-
byterians held their anniversary ser-
vices on Sunday last. when Re.. Dr.
Turnbull. of Toronto, preached two
apiendid sermons to large eongregs-
taons. in the evening the church was
packed. the Methodists having elated
their church. The choir under the
leadership of Mr. A. E. Cook gave
some good selections. Monday even-
ing a concert was given in the church,
but on account of the very disagree- •qL

The chairman, Rev. J. L. Small, gave tams
a few remarks of welcome. The choir
then sang a selection, Mr. Cook and
Mn. Small taking the solo parts.
Miss Copeland. of Wheatley, gave a
recitation. She is a good elocutionist
and pleased the audience in her vari-
ous numbersQum

of Goderich then gave a selec-
tion which was heartily encored. Rev.
T. H. Parr. of Trinity cbur^_h, wished
the Presbyterians all success in their
good work and then devoted a few
minutes to his subjecL "A Smile."

speaker thought, should be always
ready with the smile. as it helps in bis
work. Mr. Fowler, of Goderich, sang
