Wedneeda morning of last week
the body of Guy Caldwell wad found
in the barn on the farm which he re.
ceutly sold, situated east of Kiypen.
When he was missed the family be-
came alarm, d nod started a search
and the body was found io the baro io
a crouching position with the feet on
the hay and the knees almost touch-
iog it, the bod being rtly held ftp'

been acting strangely for some time

attempt to hang himself. An inquest

The death of Catherine Thiel, widow
of the late George Thiel, of Zurich,
took plate on Tuesday morniog of last
week. She wsa seventy-eight years
of age.
Rev. Robert Moffatt, M. D., a
former Turnberry boy, who has beeo
engaged in missionary work to Africa,
is home on furlough and is visiting at
his cid home, near Wroxeter.
The death of Florence Campbell,
the little daughter of Mr, and Mrs.
Allan Cameron, of Cranbrook, took
place on Friday, 1&h inst., after a
severe alums. The little one was in
her third year.
On Thursday, 15th inst., a pretty
wedding was solemnized at the home
of Mre.A. Sbeere, Exeter, when her
daughter, Gertrude, was united io
marry to Geo. H. Hockey. of Brant-
ford. Rev. R. Hobl. officiated.
Citizens of Seatorth were shucked
on Tuesday morning of last week to
hear of the death of Mr.. Jas. C. Reid.
Although sbs bad not been in the best
of heslth for some time, the deceased
had been about as usual, so that her
sudden call came as a great. •bock.

tor over forty years.
At Ssafortb, on Saturday. June
17th, a quiet wedding took plass at
the residence of Mrd. John Kerr,
when ber niece, Miss Elizabeth Scott
Johnston, was wedded to J. H.
Meiklejobn. of the ciwil service, Ot-
tawa. Rev. F. H. Larkin officiated.
Mr. and Mrs. Meiklejobn left on a
honeymoon sip through the States,
after which they will make their
home in Ottawa.

BRED STALLIONS.
One of the oldest residents in the
Seaforth district is dead in the person
of Claus Kruse, wbo pawed away on
Sunday, Ilth inst., aged ninety-two
years. The deceased war a native of
Germany, but came to Canada in 1840
and settled in Waterloo county.
Fifty years ago he -,tame further west
and settled at Egmondville, where he
resided until his death. He is sur-
vived by • family of six sons.
The death of Wm. Egan took place
in tbe Clinton hospital on Monday of
last week after an operation for ap•
peodiciti. bad been performed in the
hope that his life might be saved.
The deceased was born in Ireland
thirty-three years ago and had resided
in this country for the past two years.
during which time he had employ-
ment in Ooderich township. He is
survived by bis widow and one child.

sung for the newly -wedded. The
same afteruoon the bridal party left
for an extended trip to Montreal, Que-
bec and Ste. Anne de Besupre. After
they return they will commence
housekeeping in Detroit.
Runaway Accident in Howick.
While an employee of C. Roever'e•
Howirk township, was harrowing
with three horses the other day. the
animals started to run away. The
young mac pluckily bung oo. but
when the horses were ;mopped it was
tonnd that the harrow teeth had torn
a gash in the hip of Um buy and he
was otherwise bort. One of the
horses also was so badly injured that
it May never recover from tbe effects
of the accident.
