Who Is Responsible
*t a sitting of the Division Court
held at Aylmer recently a case was
beard which bolds considerable interest
for both farmere and merchants.
James Johnston, a farmer, purchased
from a 11 gist e quantity of salts
and adniinister.d an ordinary dose to
a cow, which died almost immedi-
ately. The supposed salts proved to
be stadium nitrate instead of the malts
ordered. The merchant declined to
mettle for the cow, saying be had pur-
chard the article in good faith from e.
Loadon wholesale hour. Judgment
was 'reeved. It appears that there
is a further complication, owing to
the fact that the London wholesalers
claim that they did not personally
supply the drug, but that when the
order was received, not having the
article in stock, they directed a firm
in Montreal to forward a keg of salts
direct to their Springfield customer.
There is much curiosity excited by the
case, and the public are wondering
where the liability will be located

BETTER TELEPHONE SERVICE. -
The Bell Telephone Co. has established
a continuous service here, winch will
mean a great convenience to all sub-

the North Huron subscribers who are
connected at Locknow. This also
will mean a continuous service be-
tween North Huron subscribers con-
nected at. Lucknow and Winghana and
should mean increased business for
