TRADE CONFER.
Joint Meeting Held Last Evening to
Make Preparations for the Accom
modation of the Boys in Red Who
Will Visit Us Next Month.
A special tueeting of the town c-un-
cil was held last evening. in conjuoc-
don with the Board of Trade, to dis-
cuss mettets in connection with the
militia camp. Mayor Cameron being
away from town. Reeve Reid was ap-
pointed acting Mayor, e tut presided
over the meeting.
A letter was wad from district mili-
tary headquarters at London asking
that the council lupply water and
light to the grounds free of cost, as in
19tIti. The council passed a resolution
complying with this, temp -ie. and also
another agreeing to indemnity the
owners of the camp site egaiust any
damage to the property by treason of
the bolding of the camp theeeon.
Jos. Kidd reported that he had
taken up with the C. P. R. district
office the matter of arranging for
transportation between the camp
grounds and the town during the per-
iod of the camp. There were difficul-
ties M the way of arranging a special
service, but the matter was still under
consideration.
It was agreed that a committee of
five members of the Board of Trade in
conjunction with a committee of the
town council shouldbare charge of
dny matters in connection with the
camp which may require attention.
This joiot committee will appoint
any Decree/try sub -committees. The
Board of Trade committee is com-
posed of President Macklin, L. 0.
Parsons, R. S. Willients. . H. Rob-
ertson and H. E. Hodgens.

JARDINE'S KNIFE FOUND.
Fatal Weapon Now in the Hands of
Authorities at Toronto.
The knife with which Edward Jar-
dine confessed that he murdered Liz-
zie Anderson is now in the hands of
the authorities. Shortly after the
conclusion of the trial of the con-
demned rums it wee learned tbat
knife had been :found near the spot
where Jardine 'stated he threw the
-weapon while sitting on the lake
